To evaluate the value of pupil cycle time (PCT) as an indicator of optic nerve dysfunction in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), 42 patients with MS and 35 control subjects were included to the study. Patients with MS with a history of ON were accepted as group 1, without a history of ON as group 2 and healthy control subjects as group 3. Groups were compared with Chi-square and one-way ANOVA tests.

The Effect of Age, Gender, Refractive Status and Axial Length on the Measurements of Hertel Exophthalmometry.

Purpose: To evaluate the normal distribution of exophthalmometric values in Turkish adult population and the effect of age, gender, refractive status and axial length on globe position.

Methods: One hundred and twenty-two males and 114 healthy females with age ranging from 18 to 87 years were included in the study. The study population was recruited from patients presenting to our institution for routine refractive examination.

Alobar holoprosencephaly, proboscis and cyclopia in a chromosomally normal fetus: Prenatal diagnosis and fetal outcome.

Holoprosencephaly is a brain malformation that develops as a result of a defect in development of prosencephalon during early gestation. Holoprosencephaly can be diagnosed with prenatal ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging. We report herein a case with cyclopia and holoprosencephaly detected by prenatal ultrasonography.

Diurnal Alterations of Refraction, Anterior Segment Biometrics, and Intraocular Pressure in Long-Time Dehydration due to Religious Fasting.

Purpose: To investigate the effects of dehydration due to fasting on diurnal changes of intraocular pressure, anterior segment biometrics, and refraction.

Subjects And Methods: The intraocular pressures, anterior segment biometrics (axial length: AL; Central corneal thickness: CCT; Lens thickness: LT; Anterior chamber depth: ACD), and refractive measurements of 30 eyes of 15 fasting healthy male volunteers were recorded at 8:00 in the morning and 17:00 in the evening in the Ramadan of 2013 and two months later. The results were compared and the statistical analyses were performed using the Rstudio software version 0.

Optical coherence tomography of bilateral nanophthalmos with macular folds and high hyperopia.

Importance. There is a conflict about the content of the macular folds in nanophthalmic eyes in the literature. Our study clearly demonstrated that papillomacular folds seen in nanophthalmos or posterior microphthalmos were only composed of neurosensory retina without involvement of retinal pigment epithelium and choroid.

Comparison of two different ultrasound methods of phacoemulsification.

Purpose: To compare the safety and efficacy of microcoaxial phacoemulsification surgeries performed with the OZil Intelligent Phaco torsional mode (Alcon Laboratories, Inc., Fort Worth, USA) and combined torsional/longitudinal ultrasound mode using 45 degree aperture angled tips.

Design: Prospective randomized clinical trial.

Outcomes of torsional microcoaxial phacoemulsification using tips with 30-degree and 45-degree aperture angles.

Purpose: To compare the safety and efficacy of Ozil Intelligent Phaco torsional microcoaxial phacoemulsification surgeries performed using 30-degree and 45-degree aperture angled tips.

Hemorrhagic age-related macular degeneration managed with vitrectomy, subretinal injection of tissue plasminogen activator, gas tamponade, and upright positioning.

Background And Objective: To investigate the outcomes of vitrectomy, subretinal tissue plasminogen (tPA) injection, gas tamponade, and upright positioning in patients with hemorrhagic neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Patients And Methods: Retrospective, noncomparative case series. Records of patients who were diagnosed with submacular hemorrhage secondary to neovascular AMD and underwent treatment with the combined method between 2004 and 2010 were reviewed.

Quantitative analysis of subfoveal choroidal thickness using enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography in normal eyes.

To evaluate subfoveal choroidal thickness of normal eyes with the use of the enhanced depth imaging technique of optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT) and correlation of choroidal thickness with patient age. A retrospective analysis of 123 healthy eyes was performed. Age, gender, refractive state and spheric equivalencies were noted.

Vitreoretinal surgery for retained lens fragments after phacoemulsification.

Purpose: To evaluate the prognostic factors, effect of timing and outcomes of vitreoretinal surgery for removal of retained lens fragments after phacoemulsification.

Methods: A retrospective review of 43 eyes of 43 patients who had vitreoretinal surgery for retained lens fragments after phacoemulsification, between January 1998 and November 2000.

Results: Seven of the 43 patients underwent vitrectomy on the same day as cataract surgery, 20 in the first week, and 23 after the first week, with a mean of 14.
