Distribution, size and shape of colorectal adenomas as determined by a colonoscopist with a high lesion detection rate: Influence of age, sex and colonoscopy indication.

Background: Increasing attention is focused on polyp-related features that may contribute to the operator-dependent nature of colonoscopy. Few data on polyps are available from high-yield colonoscopies, which may serve as a benchmark for quality control.

Objectives: Describe regional distribution, histology, size and shape of polyps, and the influence of patient age and gender, in colonoscopies performed by a colonoscopist with high lesion detection rate.

Clinical epidemiology of invasive cutaneous malignant melanoma in the Austrian province Styria in the years 2001-2003 and its relationship with local geographical, meteorological and economic data.

Background: Melanoma incidence rates vary within Europe. The highest incidences are reported in Scandinavia, the lowest in the southern parts, but incidences themselves also vary within the different countries.

Use of zygomatic anchors during rapid canine distalization: a preliminary case report.

Rapid canine distalization is a technique involving periodontal ligament distraction. The primary aim of this technique is to distalize the canines without anchorage loss and to shorten the duration of orthodontic treatment. After the rapid canine distalization, the healing process of the periodontal ligament is similar to rapid palatal expansion and requires a consolidation period.

Mandibular distraction with MD-DOS device.

Distraction osteogenesis is an alternative treatment method for the correction of mandibular hypoplasia. In this case report, mandibular distraction with a dynamic osteosynthesis system (MD-DOS) was performed to gradually lengthen the mandible of a patient who had a severe hypoplastic mandible. The patient underwent intraoral bilateral mandibular distraction osteogenesis.

Androgen receptors frequently are expressed in breast carcinomas: potential relevance to new therapeutic strategies.

Background: Several studies have demonstrated the biologic and therapeutic significance of estrogen and progesterone receptors (ER and PR) in breast carcinomas. The aim of the current study was to examine the presence of androgen receptors (AR) in breast carcinomas.

Methods: Two hundred cases of breast carcinoma, consisting of 145 invasive and 55 noninvasive (ductal carcinoma in situ [DCIS]) lesions, were examined using a monoclonal antibody against AR on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded archival material.
