BACKGROUND Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a neuropathy caused by the entrapment of the median nerve, which requires effective management strategies. The median nerve is subjected to pressure within the carpal tunnel, resulting in tingling, numbness, and pain in the median side of the hand. We compared the efficacy of splint use with an exercise program vs exercise alone in patients with mild and moderate CTS.

Introduction Distal radius fractures are the most common type of all extremity fractures. It is generally accepted that fractures with more than 2 mm step-off in the radiocarpal joint and greater than 10 degrees dorsal tilt should be treated surgically. However, the ideal technique for surgical management is still a point of debate.

Low back pain is the most common musculoskeletal problem, and is a major cause of loss of workforce. Chronic low back pain associated with radiculopathy often includes nociceptive and neuropathic components. While non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are the first choice for the nociceptive component, pregabalin is preferred as the neuropathic component.

Metatarsal stress fractures are common overuse injuries in athletes, military recruits, and ballet dancers, usually occurring in the second, third, and fourth metatarsals, respectively. Such fractures may also occur in a variety of other individuals, regardless of demographic characteristics, sex, or profession, and they are highly associated with excessive activity. Moreover, these types of fractures are usually diagnosed late and have poor outcomes.

Introduction: Polyethylene (PE) wear debris after total hip arthroplasty (THA) may cause formation of a soft tissue mass due to inflammatory reaction. To the best of our knowledge we report the first case in whom the diagnosis was made after examination of the hip, pelvis and lumbar spine with detailed radiological methods and the plain radiographs showed no signs of loosening of the THA.

Presentation Of Case: We report a 52 years-old woman who presented with a cyst causing sciatic irritation in her gluteal region due to wear debris after THA.

Where pulmonary veins drain and their relationship with an atrial septal defect (ASD) are important. A sinus venosus (high venosum) type of defect is the most common pathology accompanying partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection. Typically, the right superior pulmonary vein and occasionally the middle pulmonary vein drain into the junction of the superior vena cava (SVC) and the right atrium (RA), and a sinus venosus type of ASD usually accompanies these anomalies.

Purpose: Several alternative procedures have been proposed to achieve complete revascularization in the presence of diffuse left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) disease. With the extensive use of internal thoracic artery grafts in coronary artery bypass procedures, sequential anastomosis of the left internal thoracic artery (LITA) to LAD has gained popularity in these challenging cases. The long term results of sequential LITA to LAD anstomosis were examined in this study.

Article Synopsis
  • This study aimed to evaluate how two different techniques for harvesting the internal thoracic artery (ITA) during coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) affect patient recovery, specifically looking at respiratory function, blood gases, and clinical outcomes.
  • Patients were divided into two groups: Group 1 kept the pleura intact during ITA preparation, while Group 2 opened the pleura; results indicated that Group 1 showed better postoperative respiratory function and lower blood loss compared to Group 2.
  • Significantly, Group 1 had less pronounced reductions in lung capacity and arterial oxygen levels, while issues like costophrenic angle obliteration and intrapulmonary shunting were more common in Group 2, suggesting
