An objective soft x-ray flat-field spectrograph employing a laminar-type bilayer coated, varied-line-spacing, spherical grating was designed to improve the detection limit and sensitivity of soft x-ray flat-field spectrographs in a region of 250-550 eV. As a design criterion, spectral flux, SF, [Hatano et al., Appl.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted using annual health examination data from employees of the Panasonic Corporation in Japan. We evaluated the differences in the changes in metabolic factors associated with lifestyle disease during the observation periods between the overseas and non-overseas assignment groups.

Audience: Clerkship-level medical students, sub-interns, junior and senior residents, attending physicians.
Introduction: Bite injuries and envenomation are core content found in the model of the clinical practice of emergency medicine.1 However, depending on the geographic location of training or clinical practice, physicians may or may not be exposed to these pathologies.
Background: Fecal immunochemical tests are commonly performed for colorectal cancer screening. Instant fecal occult blood measurement in toilet bowel movements would improve convenience. Hyperspectral imaging (HSI) enables the nondestructive evaluation of materials that are difficult to assess visually.

Methods: Screening or surveillance colonoscopies performed by 11 trainees who participated in our 3-year advanced endoscopy training program between April 2015 and March 2020 were retrospectively analyzed.
In submucosal invasive adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction (pT1b-SM AEG), the extent of tumor submucosal (SM) invasion is measured using the vertical depth of SM invasion with the muscularis mucosa. This study aimed to investigate whether tumor thickness and depth of invasion without accounting for muscularis mucosa were superior to the vertical depth of SM invasion as metastasis predictors. We enrolled patients with pT1b-SM AEG who underwent endoscopic resection or surgical resection (SR) at our institution between January 2011 and September 2019 and were followed up for ≥2 years.

This was prompted by increasing health care spending attributed to the growing prevalence of nutrition-related diseases and the substantial federal funding via Medicare that supports graduate medical education. In March 2023, medical education professional organizations agreed to identify nutrition competencies for medical education.

For this purpose, spectral flux was used as the performance index, which is proportional to the amount of optical flux incident into a detector and correlated with detection sensitivity. A super-mirror-type W/B4C multilayer coating [Koike et al.

The stool state during bowel preparation (BP) should be properly evaluated to perform CS with sufficient quality. This study aimed to develop a smartphone application (app) with an artificial intelligence (AI) model for stool state evaluation during BP and to investigate whether the use of the app could maintain an adequate quality of CS.

Methods: We compared the outcomes between ESD for superficial esophageal cancers on previous endoscopic resection scar (group A) and that for naïve lesions (group B).
This study proposes a simple evaluation method for deriving L-absorption information from two L-emission spectra of 3d transition metal (TM) elements obtained at two different accelerating voltages. This method realizes a spatial identity for X-ray emission and absorption spectroscopies. This method was evaluated for the Fe L-emission spectra of Fe and its oxides and was applied to the TM L-emission spectra of MnO, Co, CoO and NiO.

Design, Setting, And Participants: We performed a cross-sectional study by surveying program directors (PDs) through the Society of Academic Urologists. Formal remediation was defined as the process initiated when resident competency deficiencies were significant enough to necessitate documentation and notification of the Graduate Medical Education (GME) office.
Laminar-type spherical diffraction gratings overcoated with carbon-based materials were designed, fabricated, and evaluated for the purpose of enhancing the analytical sensitivity of the flat-field spectrograph in a vacuum ultraviolet region of 35-110 eV. As the design benchmark for numerical calculations, diffraction efficiency (DE) and spectral flux, which are defined by the product of the DE and numerical aperture and correlate with the analytical sensitivity of the spectrograph, were used. To simplify the feasibility study on the overcoating effects, we assumed a laminar-type grating having a grating constant of 1/1000 mm and coated with a Au layer of 30.

The financial cost and geographic distance have limited student participation in away electives. In recent years, COVID-19 pandemic-related restrictions on away rotations resulted in the creation of multiple virtual courses.

In the emergency department, students have used reflective practice to process challenging clinical experiences, such as ethical dilemmas or moral distress. An online discussion board, however, has not been described as a curricular component of emergency medicine (EM) rotations.
