In the present study, the species discriminatory power of twelve potential DNA barcode regions (L, K, A-H, CBK-IF-H, Z-M, ITS1, ITS2, PRK, and RPB2) were evaluated in 21 species of from the Western Ghats region of India, using distance, tree, and similarity based statistical methods. Except for the low copy nuclear region, RPB2, none of the tested plastid loci or nuclear loci ITS, either singly or in combinations, could discriminate all the species of due to low substitution rate of plastid regions and multiple copies of ITS respectively.

As haemorheological factors such as erythrocyte deformability and blood viscosity are important in maintaining normal blood circulation, these parameters were measured by Hemorheometer and Cone-Plate Microviscometer respectively. An in vitro steady flow experiment was performed in order to test the accuracy of velocity measurements obtained through color Doppler flow mapping (CDFM). Using the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) flow phantom, low (maximum velocity = 60 cm/sec), medium (maximum velocity = 300 cm/sec) and high (maximum velocity = 600 cm/sec) speed accelerating flow fields, in which multiple aliases were visible, were imaged. A fully automatic computer algorithm was used to unwrap the aliases and to convert the CDFM to digital velocity.

Objectives: This study addressed the hypothesis that motion of the surface containing a regurgitant orifice relative to the Doppler ultrasound transducer can cause differences between actual flow rate and calculations based on the proximal flow convergence technique.
Background: In vitro studies quantitating regurgitant flow rate by proximal flow convergence have been limited to stationary orifices. Clinically, however, valve leaflets generally move relative to the ultrasound transducer during the cardiac cycle and can move at velocities important relative to the measured color aliasing velocities.
A highly embryogenic culture ofEucalyptus citriodora was obtained by repetitive embryogenesis from somatic embryos cultured in the dark on a medium containing 500 mg/l each of glutamine and casein hydrolysate, 30 g/l of sucrose and 5 mg/l of 1-napthaleneacetic acid. Cultures retained morphogenetic ability for upto 36 months when maintained at 27°C by subculture at intervals of 4-5 weeks. The subculture period could be extended beyond 9 months if cultures were incubated at 10°C.
