Background/objectives: Millions of individuals worldwide continue to experience symptoms following SARS-CoV-2 infection. This study aimed to assess the prevalence and phenotype of multi-system symptoms attributed to Long COVID-including fatigue, pain, cognitive-emotional disturbances, headache, cardiopulmonary issues, and alterations in taste and smell-that have persisted for at least two years after acute infection, which we define as "persistent Long COVID". Additionally, the study aimed to identify clinical features and blood biomarkers associated with persistent Long COVID symptoms.

The community-based surveillance system implemented in Ethiopia has significantly improved AFP surveillance. However, challenges like delayed detection and disorganized communication persist.

Vincristine sulfate, a potent chemotherapeutic, faces challenges due to P-glycoprotein-mediated resistance and its systemic toxicity. Nanoparticles offer a promising solution by improving pharmacokinetics, targeting tumor cells, thus reducing side effects.

While it decreases the risk of cancer recurrence by 50%, many patients develop resistance to this treatment, culminating in highly aggressive disease. Tamoxifen resistance comes from the repression of ER transcriptional activity that switches the cancer cells to proliferation via nonhormonal signaling pathways.

This neurodegenerative disorder is characterized by impaired memory and progressive decline in cognitive function. BACE1, a transmembrane protein found in neurons, oligodendrocytes, and astrocytes, exhibits varying levels across different neural subtypes.

Importance: Concerns have been raised that glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RA) may increase the risk of pancreatic cancer.
Objective: To investigate the association of GLP-1RA treatment with pancreatic cancer incidence over 9 years of follow-up.
Design, Setting, And Participants: In this population-based historical cohort study, adult patients (aged 21 to 89 years) with type 2 diabetes insured by Clalit Healthcare Services, the largest state-mandated health organization in Israel, were followed up from 2009, when GLP-1RA became available in Israel, until pancreatic cancer diagnosis, death, reaching age 90 years, or end of follow-up (December 2017).
α-Thalassemia (α-thal) is a globally prevalent genetic disorder of hemoglobin (Hb) structure where the rate of α-globin chain synthesis is reduced or absent due to the presence of α-globin mutation(s). The aim of this study is to define the spectrum of α-globin gene mutations and evaluate their allele frequency in a group of α-thal carriers. A total of 55 individuals with possible α-thal patients were referred from the thalassemia centers in Syria.

We investigated the association between ANXV autoantibodies and ANVX levels in RPL, IVFf and normal group women. The study was conducted on 22 female patients with RPLs, 66 patients with IVFf, and 16 normal samples from women who had given birth.

Here, we summarize what is known about the failed pancreas allograft and what factors are important for consideration of retransplantation. The current definition of pancreas allograft failure and its challenges for the transplant community are explored.

The hypertensive rats were randomly allocated to 4 groups (n=8): Positive control (PC, untreated), eucalyptol-treated group (1.0 mg/kg, IP), lisinopril-treated group (10 mg/kg, IP), and eucalyptol+lisinopril-treated group.

Identifying ligands targeting this channel, whether activating or blocking, is highly desirable because it could open the way for interventions that modulate their activity. In this study, the Asinex (BioDesign) complete library was screened to identify a compound with favorable physicochemical and pharmacokinetic properties, which have both AR blocking and ClC-Ka-modulating activities to present it as a novel potential oral candidate which could be useful for treatment of salt-sensitive hypertension without major ClC-K affection.

Palliative care is underutilized in this vulnerable population. We described kidney transplant clinicians' perceptions of palliative care to delineate their perceived barriers to and facilitators of providing palliative care to this population.

Production of new types of probiotics for animal nutrition mainly depends on the appropriate bacterial strain and efficient substrate. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the impact of two probiotic strains containing 1.2 10 (CFU/g), produced on permeate media on performance responses of Rahmani ewes.

The objective of this study was to investigate link between plasma CXCL12 levels and different grades of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) in statin-treated and -untreated patients with severe MI. A total of 198 consecutive patients with first-time severe MI (ST-elevated myocardial infarction [STEMI], = 121 and non-ST-elevated myocardial infarction [NSTEMI], = 77) were recruited from Coronary Care Unit, King Abdulaziz University Hospital.

In this prospective longitudinal study, we followed unvaccinated COVID-19-recovered individuals ( = 130) and naïve, two-dose BNT162b2-vaccinated individuals ( = 372) who were age- and BMI-matched for six months during the first pandemic year. Anti-RBD-IgG, neutralizing antibodies (NAbs), and avidity were assessed monthly.

Background: Health inequities can stem from socioeconomic position (SEP) leading to poor health (social causation) or poor health resulting in lower SEP (health selection). We aimed to examine the longitudinal bidirectional SEP-health associations and identify inequity risk factors.
Methods: Longitudinal Household Israeli Panel survey participants (waves 1-4), age ≥25 years, were included (N=11 461; median follow-up=3 years).
Boiss (AP) is a wild plant in Palestine whose leaves have a long history as food and medicine in Middle Eastern countries. The current study aimed to evaluate the biological characteristics of AP flower extract, including its antimicrobial and coagulation cascade activities and its effects on anticancer molecular pathways. The antimicrobial activity of the aqueous extract of AP flowers was assessed using a microdilution assay against eight pathogens.
