Pilates-based programs can help pregnant women deal with the physical and psychological burden derived by major changes in their body. This study was designed to primarily test, in pregnant women, the dose-response and health effects of both pre-partum and post-partum, online Pilates-based program on weight control, low back pain (LBP) severity, sleep disturbances, mood and depression levels. A total of 136 pregnant women were screened for eligibility (low-risk pregnancy; aged 18-45 years; single pregnancy; 20-28-week gestational age, normal BMI).

Hormone Receptor-Positive/HER2-Positive Breast Cancer: Hormone Therapy and Anti-HER2 Treatment: An Update on Treatment Strategies.

Hormone receptor (HR)-positive/HER2-positive breast cancer represents a distinct subtype expressing estrogen and progesterone receptors with an overexpression of HER2. Approximately 14% of female breast cancer cases are HER2-positive, with the majority being HR-positive. These tumors show a cross-talk between the hormonal and HER2 pathways; the interaction has implications for the treatment options for the disease.

Purpose: To analyse the long anatomical and functional outcome of a subgroup of the DICAT II study cohort, consisting of 26 patients undergoing cataract surgery and withdrawn from the study for a clinically significant worsening of early diabetic macular edema (DME).

Materials: Patients who underwent cataract surgery and withdrawn from the DICAT II study for a clinically significant worsening of early DME with at least 12 months follow-up after the dropout. The study population was divided into two groups according to the clinical evaluation at one-year follow-up: ongoing treatment patients for DME (Treatment group, TG) and patients no longer treated (Non Treatment group, NTG).

Enhancing Diabetic Macular Edema Treatment Outcomes: Exploring the ESASO Classification and Structural OCT Biomarkers.

Introduction: This study assessed the European School of Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology (ESASO) classification's prognostic value for diabetic macular edema (DME) in predicting intravitreal therapy outcomes.

Methods: In this retrospective, multicenter study, patients aged > 50 years with type 1 or 2 diabetes and DME received intravitreal antivascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) agents (ranibizumab, bevacizumab, and aflibercept) or steroids (dexamethasone). The primary outcome was visual acuity (VA) change post-treatment, termed as functional response, measured 4-6 weeks post-third anti-VEGF or 12-16 weeks post-steroid injection, stratified by initial DME stage.

Recently, we demonstrated that MAPK signaling pathway positively regulates Nfix in muscle development and that Cyanidin, a natural antioxidant molecule, strongly ameliorates the pathology.

Multidisciplinary clinical guidelines in proactive monitoring, early diagnosis, and effective management of trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd)-induced interstitial lung disease (ILD) in breast cancer patients.

Trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd), a human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-directed antibody-drug conjugate (ADC), has altered the treatment landscape in breast cancer (BC), irrespective of the HR-receptor status. The use of the agent is increasing, despite the finding that exposure to T-DXd increases the risk of interstitial lung disease (ILD), particularly in BC patients. Although T-DXd-related ILD can be potentially severe and life-threatening, most low-grade cases can be treated safely using a multidisciplinary approach comprising early and accurate diagnosis, effective management, close monitoring, and the prompt administration of steroids.

Healthcare professionals generally experience an above-average incidence of low back disorders (LBDs) compared with workers of other professions, and its level of risk is commonly assessed using observational methods such as the MAPO method (Movement and Assistance of Hospital Patients). In this study, we continuously monitored the trunk posture of 30 healthcare workers using a single inertial sensor to: (1) understand whether the MAPO classification is effective in adequately discriminating the risk associated with the time spent in non-neutral trunk postures and (2) characterise the variability of biomechanical exposure among workers employed in wards with the same MAPO index. The results substantially confirm the validity of the MAPO approach in discriminating among wards characterised by different levels of biomechanical exposure associated with the risk of developing LBDs.

Therapeutic approaches to preserve the musculature in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy: The importance of the secondary therapies.

Muscular dystrophies (MDs) are heterogeneous diseases, characterized by primary wasting of skeletal muscle, which in severe cases, such as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), leads to wheelchair dependency, respiratory failure, and premature death. Research is ongoing to develop efficacious therapies, particularly for DMD. Most of the efforts, currently focusing on correcting or restoring the primary defect of MDs, are based on gene-addition, exon-skipping, stop codon read-through, and genome-editing.

Looking for a strategy in treating peritoneal gastric cancer carcinomatosis: an Italian multicenter Gastric Cancer Research group's analysis.

Background: The present study provides a snapshot of Italian patients with peritoneal metastasis from gastric cancer treated by surgery in Italian centers belonging to the Italian Research Group on Gastric Cancer. Purpose: Non-occlusive mesenteric ischemia (NOMI) is a misdiagnosed and dangerous condition. To our knowledge, a comprehensive evaluation of CT parameters that can predict the outcome of patients suffering from NOMI is still missing.

Materials And Methods: Contrast-enhanced CT examination of 84 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of NOMI (37 with clinical and laboratory confirmation and 47 biopsy or surgery proven) was retrospectively reviewed by assessing vessels, mesentery, bowel, and peritoneal cavity CT quantitative and dichotomous parameters, and data were analyzed with Fisher's test.
