Nickel oxides (NiO) as hole transport layers (HTLs) in inverted-type perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have been widely studied mainly because of their high stability under illumination. Increases in the power conversion efficiency (PCE) with NiO HTLs have been presented in numerous reports, although the photoluminescence (PL) quenching behavior does not coincide with the PCE increase. The dynamics of the charge carrier transport between the NiO HTLs and the organic-inorganic halide perovskite absorbers is not clearly understood yet and quite unusual, in contrast to organic/polymerics HTLs.

Two-dimensional layered transition-metal dichalcogenides have attracted considerable interest for their unique layer-number-dependent properties. In particular, vertical integration of these two-dimensional crystals to form van der Waals heterostructures can open up a new dimension for the design of functional electronic and optoelectronic devices. Here we report the layer-number-dependent photocurrent generation in graphene/MoS/graphene heterostructures by creating a device with two distinct regions containing one-layer and seven-layer MoS to exclude other extrinsic factors.

A periodically aligned array of graphene nanorings (GRNRs) with a sub-15 nm linewidth at a pitch of 450 nm is fabricated with a large area, 9 cm(2) , through conventional nanoimprint lithography coupled with sophisticated metal deposition and plasma-etching processes. The existence of the single-layer GRNRs is verified by various techniques.
