Background: The clinical and immunological efficacy of preseasonal allergoid immunotherapy has been previously investigated, however, studies comparing the effectiveness of the two protocols are limited in the literature.
Objective: The aim of this study is to compare the clinical and immunological efficacy of pre-seasonal and perennial allergoid immunotherapy.
Methods: This is a prospective cross sectional two-arm study.
Background: Pollen food allergy syndrome (PFAS) is a frequently underdiagnosed disease due to diverse triggers, clinical presentations, and test results. This is especially relevant in geographic areas with a broad spectrum of pollen sensitization, such as Southern Europe.
Objectives: To elucidate similarities and differences of PFAS in nine Southern European centers and identify associated characteristics and unique markers of PFAS.
Background: The adequate definition of pollen seasons is essential to facilitate a correct diagnosis, treatment choice, and outcome assessment in patients with seasonal allergic rhinitis. A position paper by the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) proposed season definitions for Northern and Middle Europe.
Objective: To test the pollen season definitions proposed by EAACI in six Mediterranean cities for seven pollen taxa.
Background: Although Gramineae pollens are the main reason for seasonal allergy in many parts of Europe, the influence of regional flora on sensitisation and symptoms has always been a topic of interest. The aim of this study was to document the sensitisation to pollens and to evaluate their clinical importance in patients with seasonal allergic rhinitis living in Ankara/central Anatolia.
Methods: The study included those subjects with seasonal allergic rhinitis living in Ankara.
Although the relationship between asthma severity and exposure to airborne fungi has been well studied, little is known about the contribution of outdoor molds to the symptoms of children monosensitized to molds. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of outdoor mold spore concentrations on daily asthma and/or rhinitis scores in children monosensitized to molds. Nineteen children with asthma and/or rhinitis sensitized only to molds recorded their daily symptoms and PEF values to the diaries, from February 2005 to January 2006.

However, in Turkey, there is limited data about the prevalence of sensitization to these molds and the intensity of the two mold spores in Ankara atmosphere. This study was designed to evaluate the sensitization to Alternaria and Cladosporium in patients with respiratory allergy in Ankara and also the concentration of the two molds in Ankara atmosphere.

We aimed to detect the clinical importance of poplar allergy in subjects with seasonal allergy living in Ankara, capital city of Turkey, having a high poplar pollen load. The subjects with seasonal allergy and demonstrating allergy to Populus alba in skin-prick tests (SPTs) (n = 20) underwent a specific nasal provocation test with P.

We aimed to investigate how BHR in children with seasonal AR is modified by triamcinolone acetonide aqueous nasal spray (TANS) therapy during the pollen season. A secondary aim was to assess the efficacy of TANS on nasal congestion by acoustic rhinometry and symptom scores.

The aim of this study was to document the clinical features and direct cost of subjects with SAR when diagnosed and followed according to international treatment guidelines and to determine the effectiveness of treatment in relation to the regional pollen count in our country. The clinical features of SAR were determined cross-sectionally in 175 patients living in Ankara, Turkey.

Objectives: This atmospheric survey reports (1) airborne pollen contributions in Adana in one-year period (2) pollen onset, duration and peak level (3) the relationship between airborne pollen and selected meteorological variables and; (4) effects on symptoms in pollen allergic children.
Methods: Pollen sampling was performed with a volumetric Burkard Spore Trap.
Background: Recent evidence suggests that patients with allergic rhinitis have lower airway inflammation and a higher prevalence of bronchial hyperresponsiveness (BHR) regardless of asthma.
Objective: To investigate markers of lower airway inflammation in nonasthmatic children with seasonal allergic rhinitis (SAR) before and during pollen season and the effect of nasal triamcinolone acetonide on seasonal variations in these parameters.
Methods: Thirty-two nonasthmatic children with SAR in response to grass and/or weed pollens were recruited and separated into 2 groups.
