Objective: To evaluate the recovery of early urinary continence in patients with prostate cancer using a suprapubic catheter during Retzius-sparing robotic-assistant laparoscopic prostatectomy.
Patients And Methods: From January 2018 to January 2019, 223 patients diagnosed with prostate cancer who underwent Retzius-sparing robotic-assistant laparoscopic prostatectomy in Diakonie Klinikum Stuttgart were involved in our study. From January 2018 to June 2018, patients (112 cases) only had an indwelling urinary catheter during Retzius-sparing robotic-assistant laparoscopic prostatectomy, while from July 2018 to January 2019, patients (111 cases) were offered an extra suprapubic catheter during operation.
Objective: To determine whether transurethral en bloc submucosal hydrodissection of bladder tumours (TUEB) improves the quality of the resection compared to conventional transurethral resection of bladder tumour (TURBT) in patients with non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC).
Patients And Methods: A randomised, multicentre trial (HYBRIDBLUE) was conducted with a superiority design. Six German academic centres participated between September 2012 and August 2015.
The calmodulin (CaM)-like Ca-sensor proteins caldendrin, calneuron-1 and -2 are members of the neuronal calcium-binding protein (nCaBP)-family, a family that evolved relatively late during vertebrate evolution. Patients And Methods: Eighty-six patients from September 2012 to January 2017 in our center were retrospectively analyzed. Oncological outcomes included histological absence of prostate cancer, biochemical disease-free survival (BDFS) as well as the absence of lesions suspected for harboring prostate cancer in multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI).

Incidence of symptomatic lymphoceles (SLC) was compared with clinical and pathological data (contingency analyses, Wilcoxon-Kruskal-Wallis test).
Purpose: Retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (RPLND) is performed in patients with advanced nonseminomatous (NSGCT) germ cell tumors and residual retroperitoneal mass post-chemotherapy. The extent of node dissection remains unclear. Ipsilateral template dissection is a compromise between morbidity and oncological efficacy.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFPurpose: Retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (RPLND) is the most appropriate method for the detection of residual tumor tissue and mature teratoma after chemotherapy in patients with advanced nonseminomatous (NSGCT) or seminomatous (SGCT) germ cell tumors in clinical stage II-III. Open surgical procedures are associated with higher morbidity rates and laparoscopic RPLND offers a minimally invasive procedure with equivalent oncological safety and low morbidity.
Methods: In 39 patients laparoscopic RPLND (L-RPLND) after platinum-based chemotherapy for clinical stage IIa-III NSGCT was performed unilaterally as well as bilaterally by two surgeons.
In the treatment of advanced bladder cancer (BC), attention has recently focused on small molecule therapy concerning EGFR and the downstream Akt signalling pathway. Cellular deregulation processes are poorly understood, and biological determinants for the selection of therapy and monitoring are currently not available. The proteins PTEN, p-Akt and p27(Kip1) are suggested to be potentially significant biomarkers of Akt signalling.

Materials And Methods: 12 male minipigs were used. An artificial stricture model was established using suture-ligation, thermo-coagulation and internal urethrotomy.
Purpose: The cellular mechanisms involved in unstable uncontrolled detrusor contractions in the human bladder remain unknown. One hypothesis, based on electron microscopical observations and animal studies, is that gap junctions are present in the human detrusor and are increased in patients with detrusor overactivity. Thus intercellular electrical coupling between adjacent detrusor cells would be increased allowing electrical activity to spead more easily within the detrusor muscle mass and more readily generate significant contractions.
