The ROSA robotic-arm system reliably restores joint line height, patella height and posterior condylar offset in total knee arthroplasty.

Introduction: There is growing interest in the use of robotic TKA to improve accuracy of component positioning in Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA). The aim of this study was to investigate the accuracy of implant component position using the ROSA® knee system with specific reference to Joint Line Height, Patella Height and Posterior Condylar Offset (PCO).

Methods: This was a retrospective review of a prospectively-maintained database of the initial 100 consecutive TKAs performed by a high volume surgeon using the ROSA® knee system.

The perceptions of clinicians using low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) for orthopaedic pathology: A national qualitative study.

Introduction: Low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) is a non-invasive treatment modality for delayed union or non-union of acute fractures. We aimed to assess the current use of LIPUS at a national level in the United Kingdom, why and how clinicians use it, what treatment protocols are followed, and what the current perceptions are on this technology.

Methodology: Using a detailed online survey compromised of 20 questions delivered to known LIPUS users, we were able to collect qualitative data on indication of use, type of machine used, personal views on the technology, frequency of usage, and treatment protocols.

Successful management of life-threatening cardiac tamponade by pericardial aspiration in a boy following blunt trauma to the chest.

A 7-year-old boy was presented with significant chest pain, reduced consciousness with haemodynamic instability following a minor blunt trauma to the chest. He was diagnosed to have a life-threatening pericardial effusion in FAST (Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma scan) ultrasound examination which was confirmed as haemopericardium causing cardiac tamponade in 2D echocardiogram. Emergency cardiac catheterisation ruled out active bleeding and prompt pericardiocentesis under fluoroscopy guidance rapidly restored patients' haemodynamic parameters.

Surgical interventions may be necessary for severe cases where there is evidence of spinal instability or neurological compromise. Approach to a large rare diaphragmatic hernia in a patient undergoing cardiac surgery.

Hernia of Morgagni is an unusual congenital defect of the sternal portion of the diaphragm. Its concurrence with cardiac surgical pathology is rarely described in the literature. Notwithstanding, huge hernia of Morgagni have been noted to cause serious peri-operative impediment and complications.

Electron heating induced by an ac-bias current in the regime of Shubnikov-de Haas oscillation in the high mobility GaAs/Al Ga As two-dimensional electron system.

The magnetotransport properties of the high mobility GaAs/AlGaAs two-dimensional electron gas systems have been examined to determine the influence of the ac current bias on the carrier temperature. The changes in the line shape of Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations in the longitudinal magnetoresistance ([Formula: see text]) were followed as a function of the ac current bias in the temperature range of [Formula: see text] in order to determine the carrier heating effect due to the ac bias. The lineshape analysis of these oscillations indicates that the carrier temperature of the two-dimensional electron system is linearly proportional to the ac bias current.

Antioxidant (AO) activity is one of the mechanisms by which many conventional drugs used in day to day treatment of RA alleviate the painful symptoms associated with this disease. An investigation has been carried out to compare the antioxidant potentials of two polyherbal formulations, Maharasnadhi quathar (MRQ) and Weldehi choornaya (WC), used by Ayurvedic medical practitioners in Sri-Lanka for the treatment of RA patients.
