: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), primarily driven by atherosclerosis, are the leading cause of mortality worldwide. In Saudi Arabia, the prevalence of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) poses a significant public health challenge. To estimate the 10-year ASCVD risk among adults in Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia, and identify prevalent risk factors such as age, gender, diabetes, hypertension, smoking, cholesterol, and preventive medication use.

Prior to the project, much of the unit's activity was non-urgent and focused on supporting early discharges. Scoping exercises were undertaken to better understand current activity and identify interventions to increasing same-day referrals from within the urgent and emergency care system.

Aims: We systematically studied the presence of hyperglycaemia during treatment with Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors (ICPI) for cancer, in those with and without diabetes at baseline, and determined the cause of new-onset hyperglycaemia, METHODS: Retrospective review of electronic records of those receiving an ICPI for melanoma, lung or renal cancer.
Results: Overall, 959 participants were included. In this study, 103 had diabetes at baseline (10.
The transcriptomic regulation induced by isotretinoin (13-cis retinoic acid) is still a matter of debate as short-term exposures of immortalized sebocytes with isotretinoin produced conflicting results. Based on translational evidence, it has been hypothesized that oral isotretinoin treatment upregulates the expression of the transcription factor p53. Twenty-five patients suffering from acne vulgaris were treated with isotretinoin (0.

Objectives: To evaluate the use of fractional carbon dioxide laser versus micro-needling in trans-epidermal delivery of triamcinolone acetonide and platelet rich plasma in alopecia areata treatment.
Methods: Interventional comparative study carried out on 60 patients, randomly divided into four equal groups.
Background: The outer root sheath of hair follicle and the interfollicular epidermis are continuous and basically similar in many aspects. The expression of various basement membrane (BM) components in the upper portion of the hair follicle is similar to that of the interfollicular BM. The extension of acantholysis into the adnexal structures was highlighted in the pemphigus group of diseases.

Lipocalin-2 is an adipocytokine with proinflammatory properties involved in several disorders with metabolic alterations. Our aim was to study the relation of serum lipocalin-2 and carotid artery intima-media thickness (CIMT) to obesity in erectile dysfunction.

However, it also results in azoospermia and infertility in cancer survivors. This research was constructed to explore the possible therapeutic role of amniotic fluid-derived stem cells (AFSCs) in improving busulfan-induced azoospermia in adult rats.

This work demonstrates successful triplet sensitization of a CdSe quantum dot (QD)-bound oligothiophene carboxylic acid (T6). Transient absorption spectroscopy provides direct evidence of Dexter-type triplet energy transfer from the QD to the acceptor without populating the singlet excited state or charge transfer intermediates.

Case Description: Herein, we report a 29 year old Indian male who presented with culture negative IE with perivalvular abscess and severe mitral regurgitation requiring mitral valve replacement.
Discussion: Initial approach is very difficult in terms of when IE presents as culture negative.
A novel 1,3,2-diazaphospholidine (N-heterocyclic phosphine)-thiourea-mediated phospha-Mannich/intramolecular nucleophilic substitution reaction has been developed for the construction of an N-C-P bond unit. This transformation enabled a rapid access to cyclic tertiary α-amino phosphonates in one-pot procedure under additive-free mild reaction conditions. This study revealed the critical role of thiourea moiety of the N-heterocyclic phosphine-thiourea in the sequential intramolecular nucleophilic substitution reaction of the phosphonylation.

This transformation enabled the synthesis of valuable densely functionalized vinyldiazaphosphonates with a β-, γ-unsaturated ester moiety under mild reaction conditions. Synthetic utility of vinyldiazaphosphonates was demonstrated by a series of synthetic manipulations.

The title mol-ecule, C58H44N6S8, has point symmetry 2 (in the Schönfliess notation C2). The related crystallographic twofold axis bis-ects the central ethane bond while it is parallel to the monoclinic unique axis of the unit cell. The dithiole=C-C=dithiole torsion angle is 103.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFTwo phenylboronic acid based saccharide sensors bearing conjugated oligomer fluorophores with linear and cruciform π-frameworks were synthesized in a modular approach utilizing a Cu-catalyzed alkyne azide cycloaddition (click) reaction. The cruciform fluorophore showed excellent saccharide sensing function under physiological conditions in the mM range, whereas the linear fluorophore gave very limited sensing functions. The different fluorescent sensing behaviours highlight the important role of oligomer fluorophore in the development of effective saccharide sensors.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess the prevalence of the use of alcohol, tobacco, coffee, and various medications among flying crew and clerks working in a ministry in Kuwait.
Methods: In a cross-sectional study, a self-administered questionnaire was filled in by 277 flying crew and 302 clerks of a comparable age and gender ratio.
Results: Frequencies of using alcohol, tobacco, coffee, and various medications were much higher among flying crew as compared to clerks.
The presence of components of the renin angiotensin system (RAS) and specific receptors of angiotensin II in the female and male reproductive tract supports the hypothesis that reproductive functions may be controlled by RAS. Therefore, the present study investigated the influence of ACE and angiotensins on sperm functions and the sperm-egg interaction. The experiments did not indicate direct effects of ACE on the capacitation process or acrosome reaction.
