Malignant conditions in children born after assisted reproductive technology.

Unlabelled: This article reviews the risks of childhood malignancies and imprinting disorders in children born after assisted reproductive technology (ART). It is recognized that there is a theoretical potential of developing an excess of malignancies in children born after ART. With the advancement and introduction of newer techniques in ART there is an increase in the micromanipulation of gametes and embryos in vitro and extended exposure to the in vitro environment.

Conventional myomectomy.

In addition to the conventional/older treatments of myomectomy and hysterectomy, the options now available to the woman with symptomatic fibroids, especially if she wishes to conserve her uterus, include medical treatments such as mifepristone, minimally invasive therapies such as uterine artery embolization (UAE) or magnetic-resonance-guided focused ultrasound surgery (MRgFUS), and laparoscopic or vaginal myomectomy. It is generally accepted, and with justification, that conventional myomectomy is associated with significant morbidity, especially excessive peri-operative blood loss, recurrence of the fibroids and adhesion formation, which might compromise the very reason, i.e.

Reproductive outcomes after in-vitro fertilization.

Purpose Of Review: This paper reviews the effect of in-vitro fertilization on maternal and perinatal outcomes of pregnancy.

Recent Findings: Few randomized, controlled trials have been published in this area due to inherent difficulties in studying this population of infertile women who require in-vitro fertilization. Systematic review of the literature identified published studies that consistently highlighted the higher incidence of maternal and perinatal morbidity associated with pregnancies following in-vitro fertilization.
