Background: Dopamine transporter (I-FP-CIT) single-photon emission tomography (SPECT) and I-meta-iodobenzylguanidine (I-MIBG) image play roles as indicative biomarkers in diagnosing patients with dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB). Brain- and body-first subtypes of DLB were hypothesized implying that subset of DLB may have normal I-FP-CIT or I-MIBG results, respectively. The purpose of this study was to explore the diagnostic sensitivity of two combination imaging modalities (I-FP-CIT SPECT and I-MIBG image) in patients with DLB and examine the clinical difference between brain- and body-first subtype.

Endoscopic hemostasis with a self-assembling peptide gel during endoscopic submucosal dissection and cold-snare polypectomy in the duodenum: Prospective exploratory study (with video).

Objectives: A novel self-assembling peptide gel (SAPG) was recently developed for hemostasis during endoscopic resection (ER) as an alternative for electrocoagulation and clip placement. Therefore, this exploratory study aimed to evaluate the hemostatic effect of SAPG on bleeding during ER of the duodenum.

Methods: Patients with superficial duodenal epithelial tumors who underwent endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) or cold-snare polypectomy (CSP) between June 2022 and October 2023 were enrolled in the study.

Purpose: The exact incidence of and risk factors for interstitial lung disease (ILD), a serious side effect of abemaciclib, remain unknown in real-world settings. We examined the incidence of and risk factors for abemaciclib-induced ILD in patients with advanced breast cancer (ABC) in Japan.

Patients And Methods: Retrospective clinical information was collected from charts of patients with ABC who had started abemaciclib treatment at 77 participating institutions between November 30, 2018 and December 31, 2019.

However, delivery to non-hepatic tissues via systemic administration remains challenging. Antibody modification of LNPs is a hopeful approach for improving their selectivity to target tissues.

Linked Color Imaging with Artificial Intelligence Improves the Detection of Early Gastric Cancer.

Introduction: Esophagogastroduodenoscopy is the most important tool to detect gastric cancer (GC). In this study, we developed a computer-aided detection (CADe) system to detect GC with white light imaging (WLI) and linked color imaging (LCI) modes and aimed to compare the performance of CADe with that of endoscopists.

Methods: The system was developed based on the deep learning framework from 9,021 images in 385 patients between 2017 and 2020.

Efficacy of Continuous Intravenous Fentanyl for Oral Mucosal Pain in Stevens-Johnson Syndrome: A Case Report.

The management of oral mucosal pain in Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS), known for its severe mucocutaneous reactions, is a significant challenge due to the paucity of effective treatments reported in the literature. This case report aims to help fill this gap by describing the effective use of continuous intravenous fentanyl for the relief of severe oral mucosal pain in a patient with SJS. A patient with postoperative recurrence of cervical cancer developed SJS following chemotherapy.

Tympanal organs as "insect ears" have evolved repeatedly. Dinidorid stinkbugs were reported to possess a conspicuous tympanal organ on female's hindlegs. Here we report an unexpected discovery that the stinkbug's "tympanal organ" is actually a novel symbiotic organ.

Association of D-dimer level with thrombotic events, bleeding, and mortality in Japanese patients with solid tumors: a Cancer-VTE Registry subanalysis.

Background: The D-dimer test is a simple test frequently used in routine clinical screening for venous thromboembolism (VTE). The Cancer-VTE Registry was a large-scale, multicenter, prospective, observational study in Japanese patients with cancer. This study aimed to clarify the relationship between D-dimer level at cancer diagnosis (baseline) and the incidence of events during cancer treatment (1-year follow-up period).

Neurosarcoidosis with enlargement of the dorsal root ganglia: A case report.

We report the case of a woman in her 40s who presented with sensory disturbances in all 4 limbs and left facial palsy. MRI revealed asymmetric enlargement of the dorsal root ganglia, which was enhanced by gadolinium-a chest CT scan identified enlarged supraclavicular, mediastinal, and hilar lymph nodes. A biopsy of a hilar lymph node showed noncaseating epithelioid granulomas, confirming a sarcoidosis diagnosis.

Background And Aims: This retrospective study aimed to compare the short- and long-term outcomes of endoscopic submucosal dissection and laparoscopic and endoscopic cooperative surgery in patients with superficial non-ampullary duodenal epithelial tumors.

Patients And Methods: We investigated consecutive patients with SNADETs > 10 mm in size who underwent ESD (ESD group) or LECS (LECS group) between January 2015 and March 2021. The data was used to analyze the clinical course, management, survival status, and recurrence between the two groups.

Observation and manipulation of quantum interference in a superconducting Kerr parametric oscillator.

Quantum tunneling is the phenomenon that makes superconducting circuits "quantum". Recently, there has been a renewed interest in using quantum tunneling in phase space of a Kerr parametric oscillator as a resource for quantum information processing. Here, we report a direct observation of quantum interference induced by such tunneling and its dynamics in a planar superconducting circuit through Wigner tomography.

Possible Regulation of P-Glycoprotein Function by Adrenergic Agonists II: Study with Isolated Rat Jejunal Sheets and Caco-2 Cell monolayers.

To clarify the regulation of drug absorption by the enteric nervous system, we investigated how adrenergic agonists (adrenaline (ADR), clonidine (CLO), dobutamine (DOB)) and dibutyryl cAMP (DBcAMP) affected P-glycoprotein (P-gp) function by utilizing isolated rat jejunal sheets and Caco-2 cell monolayers. ADR and CLO significantly decreased the secretory transport (P) of rhodamine-123 and tended to decrease the transport via P-gp (P) and passive transport (P). In contrast, DBcAMP significantly increased and DOB tended to increase P and both tended to increase Pand P.

Methods for virus recovery from environmental surfaces to monitor infectious viral contamination.

Accurate quantification of infectious contaminants on environmental surfaces, particularly infectious viruses, is essential for contact transmission risk assessment; however, difficulties in recovering viruses from surfaces using swabs complicates this quantification process. Herein, we identified the factors that significantly affected virus recovery rates and developed an ideal swab method that yielded the highest rate of virus recovery. We comprehensively analyzed the effects of swab type (cotton/polyester), swab water content (wet/dry conditions), surface material, and surface area on the rates of viral RNA and infectious virus recovery.
