Objective: Social psychological research has indicated that people strive for self-consistent feedback and interactions, even if negative, to preserve the epistemic security of knowing themselves. Without such , any interpersonal exchange may become frustrated, anxiety-riddled, and at risk for deterioration. Thus, it may be important for therapists to meet patients' self-verification needs as a responsive precondition for early alliance establishment and development.

We applied Raman spectroscopy to brain and skin tissues from a minipig model of Huntington's disease. Differences were observed between measured spectra of tissues with and without Huntington's disease, for both brain tissue and skin tissue. There are linked to changes in the chemical composition between tissue types.

This study explored mental health care patients and therapists' perspectives on using therapists' measurement-based and problem-specific effectiveness data to inform case assignments - a type of treatment personalization that has been shown to outperform non-measurement-based case assignment as usual (Constantino et al., 2021). We conducted semi-structured qualitative interviews with 8 patients (75% women; M age = 33.

While parental behaviors during the 'first thousand days' are critical for child health, little is known about fathers during this time. We examined prenatal patterns of health behaviors, social-emotional wellbeing, and infant care intentions among expectant fathers, both overall and compared to expectant mothers. Among 227 mother-father dyads enrolling in a randomized controlled trial of a perinatal obesity prevention program in Boston, Massachusetts (July 2020-July 2022), participants independently completed baseline surveys addressing (1) health behaviors, (2) social emotional wellbeing, and (3) infant care intentions.

Objective: Patient-reported outcomes data reveal differences both in therapists' global effectiveness across their average patient (between-therapist effect) and in treating different problems within their caseload (within-therapist effects). Yet, it is unclear how accurately therapists perceive their own measurement-based, problem-specific effectiveness and whether such self-perceptions predict global between-therapist performance differences. We explored these questions in naturalistic psychotherapy.

Objective: More positive pre- or early therapy patient outcome expectation (OE) has consistently correlated with better treatment outcomes. Thus, it is important to identify factors that contribute to patients' OE, which can inform therapist responsivity to such risk or facilitative markers. With growing research on OE correlates-centered primarily on patient characteristics/treatment factors and, to a lesser extent, therapist factors-a comprehensive synthesis is warranted to elucidate replicated and mixed associations and stimulate further research.

To identify infant and maternal factors associated with attainment of full oral feeding (FOF) in premature infants. A retrospective study was performed on 89 premature infants (<34 weeks gestational age) from a tertiary care neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Infant and maternal factors were concurrently assessed.

A meta-analysis revealed a positive correlation between patients' optimistic baseline, or early treatment, outcome expectation (OE) and posttreatment improvement (Constantino, Vîslă, et al., [2018]. A meta-analysis of the association between patients' early treatment outcome expectation and their posttreatment outcomes.

Although psychotherapy is generally efficacious, a substantial number of patients fail to improve meaningfully, whereas still others deteriorate. Moreover, psychotherapists have difficulty forecasting which patients are at risk for nonresponse or deterioration, especially when relying predominantly on their judgment. These limitations have implications for the ethical practice of psychotherapy, and they call for remediation strategies.

Objective: Critical illnesses are a significant public health issue because of their high rate of mortality, the increasing use of the Intensive Care Units and the resulting healthcare cost that is about 80 billion of dollars per year. Their mortality is about 12% whereas sepsis mortality reaches 30-40%. The only instruments currently used against sepsis are early diagnosis and antibiotic therapies, but the mortality rate can also be decreased through an improvement of the patient's nutrition.

Objective: Carbon monoxide is produced by the incomplete combustion of organic fuel. In the United States, it is responsible for about 500 deaths annually. Increased carboxyhemoglobin concentration and hypoxia disrupt cardiac myocyte integrity and cause dysrhythmias, acute cardiac failure and coronary artery disease.

As the conceptualization of evidence-based practice expands beyond the phasic application of treatment manuals for specific mental health diagnoses, greater attention is being paid to treatment personalization, including at its very first steps. One approach to such early personalization involves therapist flexible responsivity to patients' presenting nondiagnostic characteristics, such as their treatment-related beliefs, that are known to correlate with treatment outcomes. Such tailoring represents one element of the context-responsive psychotherapy integration framework that privileges the therapist's use of evidence-informed strategies in response to specific patient characteristics and contextual process markers (Constantino, Boswell, Bernecker, & Castonguay, 2013).

Opioid therapy for patients with chronic pain is increasing in frequency along with rates of opioid abuse. Many screening tools are available to assess for the risk of opioid abuse. NPs should use screening tools that are cross-validated for use in chronic pain patients in the Canadian primary healthcare setting.

The current research examined accuracy and bias in daily forecasts within romantic relationships. Results of an extensive daily report study involving 200 romantic dyads and 4,822 daily observations suggested that predictions regarding affect and partner behavior that will occur tomorrow are somewhat accurate, predicted by actual experiences tomorrow, but are largely biased by current experiences. Participants appeared to project the current state of their relationship into the future, a temporal projection bias.

Anesthesia providers in low-income countries may infrequently provide regional anesthesia techniques for obstetrics due to insufficient training and supplies, limited manpower, and a lack of perceived need. In 2007, Kybele, Inc. began a 5-year collaboration in Ghana to improve obstetric anesthesia services.

Macrolide resistance has been linked to the presence of a functional erythromycin ribosomal methylase (erm) gene in most species of pathogenic rapidly growing mycobacteria (RGM). For these Mycobacterium isolates, extended incubation in clarithromycin is necessary to determine macrolide susceptibility. In contrast, the absence of a detectable erm gene in isolates of M.

Models of collective animal behaviour frequently make assumptions about the effects of neighbours on the behaviour of focal individuals, but these assumptions are rarely tested. One such set of assumptions is that the switch between active and inactive behaviour seen in herding animals is influenced by the activity of close neighbours, where neighbouring animals show a higher degree of behavioural synchrony than would be expected by chance. We tested this assumption by observing the simultaneous behaviour of paired individuals within a herd of red deer Cervus elaphus.

Background: Moderate sedation is routinely performed in patients undergoing minor therapeutic and diagnostic procedures outside the operating room. The level of sedation is often monitored by sedation nurses using clinical criteria, such as sedation scores. The Bispectral Index (BIS) is derived from changes in the electroencephalograph profile that may provide an objective measure of the level of sedation.

Respiratory depression can occur after neuraxial morphine administration. In the obstetric population, there are little data on respiratory depression after neuraxial morphine administration in women undergoing cesarean delivery. In this single-center, retrospective study in 5036 obstetric patients (mean body mass index = 34 kg/m) who underwent cesarean delivery and received neuraxial morphine, we did not identify any instances of respiratory depression requiring naloxone administration or rapid response team involvement.
