The groundwater salinization problem in the south bank of the Yellow River irrigation area is severe, restricting the sustainability of groundwater resources. However, the groundwater salinization formation mechanism is unclear. Accordingly, this study analyzed the chemical characteristics and salinization mechanism of groundwater based on hydrochemical analyses (self-organizing maps, SOM), isotope analyses (δO and δD), and quantitative models (Rayleigh distillation model), as well as evaluating the potential health risks of fluoride.

Methods: A systematic review and a meta-analysis were performed. Related literature was searched from databases, including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library, covering the period from the inception of these databases until July 2023.

Background: Perioperative strokes may promote postoperative neurocognitive dysfunction. This study thus evaluated the incidence of postoperative strokes and the association between strokes and postoperative neurocognitive outcomes in older patients recovering from noncardiac surgery.

Methods: The Postoperative Covert Stroke and Cognitive Dysfunction among Elderly Patients Undergoing Noncardiac Surgery study (PRECISION) was a two-center prospective cohort study evaluating patients aged 60 yr or older who had elective, noncardiac inpatient surgery at two Chinese academic centers.

Backgrounds: The cerebral oximetry index (CO) uses near-infrared spectroscopy to estimate cerebral autoregulation during cardiac surgery. However, the relationship between intraoperative loss of cerebral autoregulation and postoperative delirium or stroke remains unclear in patients recovering from carotid endarterectomy (CEA).

Methods: Our prospective observational cohort study enrolled patients scheduled for CEA.

Land reclamation from the sea is a common practice to create territorial space and accommodate urbanisation in coastal cities. However, previous studies did not adequately examine the changes in ecosystem service values, the spatial transformation of the ecological network and the ecological resilience at an urban scale in the context of land reclamation. This study uses Macao SAR, a fully urbanised city with two-thirds of its land reclaimed from the sea, as a case study.

Photo-thermal-synergistic hydrogenation is a promising strategy for upcycling carbon dioxide into fuels and chemicals by maximally utilizing full-spectrum solar energy. Herein, by immobilizing Pt-Rh bimetal onto a well-developed GaN NWs/Si platform, CO was photo-thermo-catalytically hydrogenated towards CO under concentrated light illumination without extra energies. Injectable Modified Sodium Alginate Microspheres for Enhanced Operative Efficiency and Safety in Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection.

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is an effective method for resecting early-stage tumors in the digestive system. To achieve a low injection pressure of the injected fluid and continuous elevation of the mucosa following injection during the ESD technique, we introduced an innovative injectable sodium-alginate-based drug-loaded microsphere (Cipro-ThSA) for ESD surgery, which was generated through an emulsion reaction involving cysteine-modified sodium alginate (ThSA) and ciprofloxacin. Cipro-ThSA microspheres exhibited notable adhesiveness, antioxidant activity, and antimicrobial properties, providing a certain level of postoperative wound protection.

Background: Several abstract studies have demonstrated that metformin may be beneficial for preventing and treating endometrial cancer (EC), while the results have been inconsistent and inconclusive. Background: Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) represent the predominant stromal component within the tumour microenvironment (TME), exhibiting considerable heterogeneity and plasticity that significantly impact immune response and metabolic reprogramming within the TME, thereby influencing tumour progression. Consequently, investigating CAFs is of utmost importance. The objective of this study is to employ bibliometric analysis in order to evaluate the current state of research on CAFs and predict future areas of research and emerging trends.

Polyhalogenated carbazoles (PHCZs) are emerging environmental pollutants, yet limited information is available on their embryotoxicity and neurotoxicity. Therefore, the current work was performed to investigate the adverse effects of 3,6-dibromocarbazole (3,6-DBCZ), a typical PHCZs homolog, on the early life stages of zebrafish larvae. It revealed that the 96-hour post-fertilization (hpf) median lethal concentration (LC) value of 3,6-DBCZ in zebrafish larvae was determined to be 0.

Neoadjuvant pyrotinib plus trastuzumab and chemotherapy for HER2-positive breast cancer: a prospective cohort study.

Background: This prospective study aims to investigate the efficacy and safety of pyrotinib (P) combined with 4 cycles of epirubicin and cyclophosphamide followed by 4 cycles of taxane and trastuzumab (P + EC-TH) regimen as neoadjuvant therapy for human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) positive breast cancer and to investigate the predictive value of p53, p63, and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) status for neoadjuvant efficacy.

Methods: A total of 138 HER2-positive breast cancer patients who received neoadjuvant therapy and underwent surgery were included. Case group: 55 patients received P + EC-TH regimen.

This study investigated the surface water-groundwater origins and connectivity using stable isotopes (δD and δO) of surface water and groundwater in 11 river basins in the Ordos Basin.
