Readmission Rate, Predictors, Outcomes, and Burden of Readmission of Hepatorenal Syndrome in the United States: A Nationwide Analysis.

Background: Nationwide US data on readmission rates for patients with cirrhosis admitted with hepatorenal syndrome (HRS) is lacking. We reviewed 30-day readmission rates after HRS-related hospitalizations, the associated predictors of readmissions, and their impact on resource utilization and mortality in the United States.

Methods: We identified all adults admitted with HRS between 2016 and 2019 using the Nationwide Readmission database of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project.

Clinical outcomes and healthcare utilization of acute hepatitis A virus infection with acute kidney injury in hospitalized patients.

Background: Patients with acute hepatitis A virus (HAV) infection are at risk of developing acute kidney injury (AKI) which may result in increased healthcare resource utilization and worse clinical outcomes. We investigated the impact of AKI on healthcare utilization and clinical outcomes in patients hospitalized with acute HAV infection utilizing a large database.

Methods: We queried the National Inpatient Sample (NIS) 2007-2014 to identify acute HAV infection-related hospitalizations with and without AKI.
