The photocatalytic co-reduction of CO and N is a sustainable method for urea synthesis under mild conditions. However, high-yield synthesis of urea is a challenge due to the sluggish kinetics of the C-N coupling reaction. Herein, we have successfully engineered a Z-scheme photocatalyst, SrTiO-FeS-CoWO, for boosting photocatalytic urea synthesis via enhancing the initial CO and N adsorption step and reducing the energy barrier for the C-N coupling reaction.

Article Synopsis
  • Silent myocardial infarction (SMI) often goes unnoticed but increases cardiovascular risks, and it's unclear how intensive lowering of systolic blood pressure (SBP) affects SMI risk in hypertensive patients.
  • In a post hoc analysis of the Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT), participants who underwent intensive SBP lowering (targeting <120 mmHg) had a lower incidence of SMI compared to those with standard SBP targets (<140 mmHg).
  • The study concluded that intensive SBP lowering not only reduces the risk of recognized myocardial infarction (RMI) but also has significant benefits in preventing SMI in adults with hypertension.

Article Synopsis
  • - DECT (Dual-energy computed tomography) uses two X-ray energy levels (80 and 140 kVp) to distinguish materials based on their atomic properties, enhancing imaging for conditions like bone marrow edema.
  • - It produces high-resolution images that can visually separate different tissue types, making it effective in detecting traumatic bone marrow lesions and subtle fractures, often as a reliable alternative to MRI.
  • - DECT offers comparable diagnostic accuracy to MRI, but with shorter exam times and greater availability, making it a significant advancement in the imaging of bone-related pathologies.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the link between small dense LDL cholesterol (sd-LDL-C) and coronary artery calcification (CAC) in a diverse group of 4,672 participants.
  • Higher levels of sd-LDL-C were associated with increased odds of having CAC, even after accounting for total LDL cholesterol levels.
  • The findings suggest that measuring sd-LDL-C could be important for assessing cardiovascular disease risk in people without known heart conditions, but further research is needed to determine its effectiveness in primary prevention.

This study has explored the potential of plant-derived oil bodies (OBs)-based oleogels as novel drug delivery systems for in vitro release under simulated physiological conditions. To obtain stable OBs-based oleogels, gum arabic (GA) and chitosan (CH) were coated onto the curcumin-loaded OBs using an electrostatic deposition technique, followed by 2,3,4-trihydroxybenzaldehyde (TB) induced Schiff-base cross-linking. Microstructural analyses indicated successful encapsulation of curcumin into the hydrophobic domain of the OBs through a pH-driven method combined with ultrasound treatment.
