Introduction: Jaundice is a state of disease in liver function often along with gastrointestinal (GI) complications primarily characterized by hyperbilirubinemia. Other tests regarding liver function are often used besides bilirubin as during any liver complications biomarkers such as alanine aminotransferase (ALT), serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase (SGPT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), serum glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and many other biomarkers even total protein metabolism might get disrupted and get released in the blood. However, no comparison or association among those biomarkers was determined in a cohort.

Article Synopsis
  • Interfaces in heterostructures significantly affect the operation of electronic devices, impacting elements like capacitors and transistors used for memory and logic applications.
  • The study uses operando off-axis electron holography to measure trapped charges at dielectric and metal/dielectric interfaces in HfO- and AlO-based nanocapacitors under applied electric fields.
  • The findings reveal a high density of trapped charges at these interfaces that influences the device's electric field distribution, establishing a linear relationship between trapped charges and the applied bias for the first time.

With the expansion of the manufacturing sector, it has become crucial to incorporate sustainable production methods in order to remain competitive in the market. This study focuses on addressing the needs of the manufacturing industry by conducting a sustainability analysis of electric discharge machining for SS310 alloy. The analysis explores the impact of various electrode materials, for instance, copper and brass, as well as different machining variables, including discharge current (I = 4-12 A), spark gap (SG = 6-12 mu), pulse duration (Pon = 15-45 μs), and duty cycle (DC = 75-85%) using Taguchi method.

Decade-long efforts in medicinal biotechnology have enabled large-scale in-vitro production of optimized therapeutic RNA constructs for stable in-vivo delivery and modify the expression of disease-related genes. The success of lipid nanoparticle-formulated mRNA vaccines against Severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-Cov2) has opened a new era of RNA therapeutics and non-viral drug delivery systems. The major limiting factor in the clinical translation of RNA-based drugs is the availability of suitable delivery vehicles that can protect RNA payloads from degradation, offer controlled release, and pose minimal inherent toxicity.

Speech is the most common means of communication in humans. Any defect in accurate speech production ability results in the development of speech sound disorder (SSD), a condition that can significantly impair an individual's academic performance, social interactions, and relationships with peers and adults. This study investigated the genetic basis of SSD in three Pakistani families.

The combustion of coal in power plants releases significant amounts of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which are highly toxic and carcinogenic. This study assesses the ecological and human health impacts of PAHs contamination from a coal-fired power plant over 8 years. The monitoring site selection considered the distance from the power plant and the prevailing wind direction in the investigated area.

Article Synopsis
  • * Researchers detected and quantified aflatoxins in various wheat samples, finding that 35 out of 56 samples were contaminated, with some exceeding the European Commission's limit of 4 ppb.
  • * Detoxification methods significantly reduced aflatoxin levels in contaminated samples, with biological treatments proving most effective, greatly lowering concentrations without damaging grain quality.

We started a campaign in the heart of Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan, to expose the hidden threats of parasitic illnesses in ruminants and the severe financial consequences associated with them. Our in-depth investigations focused on the prevalence, impact, and astounding financial losses brought on by organ contamination in slaughtered animals. Of the 384 slaughtered ruminants examined for gastrointestinal parasites, a prevalence of 44.

Owing to the application of industrial wastes, geopolymers are generally regarded as a sustainable alternative to traditional construction materials. However, their lack of adoption on the industrial scale demands detailed investigations. This study conducts a comparative analysis of the compressive strength of different geopolymer and hybrid cement mortars with varying proportions of sodium hydroxide (from 5 to 25 wt%) and ordinary Portland cement (OPC) (from 15 to 35 wt%), respectively.

Left bundle branch area pacing (LBBAP) is an emerging technique in cardiac resynchronization therapy that shows promise in improving ventricular synchrony and clinical outcomes in patients with heart failure. However, the potential risk of coronary artery complications with LBBAP necessitates careful attention and management. This literature review explores the mechanisms, acute coronary events, and clinical implications associated with coronary artery complications in LBBAP.

There is a growing concern about inappropriate waste disposal and its negative impact on human health and the environment. The objective of this study is to understand household waste segregation intention considering psychological, institutional, and situational factors simultaneously. Insights into the motivations of household waste segregation drivers may assist in a better knowledge of how to pursue the most efficient and effective initiatives.

Individuals with specific language impairment (SLI) struggle with language acquisition despite average non-verbal intelligence and otherwise typical development. One SLI account focuses on grammar acquisition delay. The current study aimed to detect novel rare genetic variants associated with performance on a grammar assessment, the Test of Early Grammatical Impairment (TEGI), in English-speaking children.

Alveolar soft part sarcoma is a very rare malignant neoplasm of peripheral muscular, adipose or neural tissue. Its occurrence, as a primary intracranial tumour, is even rarer. To the best of our knowledge, only nine cases of primary intracranial alveolar soft part sarcoma exist in English scientific literature.

Article Synopsis
  • Silicon is running out as the main material for information storage, leading to increased interest in alternatives like DNA.
  • DNA storage offers benefits like higher capacity, better data retention, and less energy use compared to silicon.
  • The effectiveness of DNA storage is influenced by cost, waste generation, slow writing/reading speeds, and limited rewritability; the article reviews these aspects and the technology's future potential.

Background: Runs of homozygosity (ROHs) analysis of controls provide a convenient resource to minimize the association of false positive results of disease-associated ROHs and genetic variants for simple and complex disorders in individuals from the same population. Evidence for the value of ROHs to speech or language-related traits is restricted due to the absence of population-matched behaviourally defined controls and limited family-based studies.

Aim: This study aims to identify common ROHs in the Pakistani population, focussing on the total length and frequency of ROHs of variable sizes, shared ROHs, and their genomic distribution.

Emerging evidence suggests that impaired speech may be related to reduced working memory (WM). The current study aimed to validate and compare the influence of articulation, short-term memory (STM), WM, and receptive vocabulary abilities of Pakistani children with speech sound disorder (SSD; N = 50) versus typically developing (TD; N = 30) children aged 7-13 years. Assessments included the Test for Assessment of Articulation and Phonology in Urdu (TAAPU), Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test-4, translated to Urdu (U-PPVT-4), and Digit Memory Test (DMT) used to determine speech articulation, receptive vocabulary, and memory abilities respectively.
