The endoscopic resection of suspected gastric high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia (HGIN) may incidentally cause the patient to suffer from early gastric cancer (EGC), complicating the subsequent clinical management. Identifying the risk factors for such misstaging may help guide the clinical management. The information obtained from 123,460 patients, who underwent conventional upper gastrointestinal endoscopy at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from January 2010 to December 2015, were retrospectively reviewed.
