Article Synopsis
  • Patients who received free access to medicines showed better outcomes in managing diabetes and hypertension in a randomized controlled trial compared to those with regular access to medications.
  • The study identified key indicators for managing these conditions, including healthcare encounters, self-monitoring practices, and necessary lab tests, and compared these indicators between participants receiving free medicines and those with standard access.
  • Findings suggest that free medicine distribution can enhance self-monitoring behaviors, decrease missed medical appointments, and potentially reduce the overall need for healthcare visits and lab testing in patients with hypertension.
