Background And Objective: Fluid overload is an important factor of morbidity and mortality in hemodialysis patients. Today correct determination of dry weight (DW) remains an important issue of hemodialysis practice. Within this context, it is subjected to new method searching.

Methods: The study included 60 patients with BD and 45 age-, gender-, and body mass index (BMI)-matched healthy controls. Obese patients with a BMI of ≥30 kg/m² were excluded.

Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus (NDI) is the most common renal side effect seen with lithium therapy. Persisting cases after the cessation of the therapy may be seen when lithium therapy is continued for too long. Although desmopressin treatment is not one of the accepted treatment modalities for NDI, there are few reports using desmopressin treatment in unresponsive cases.

In APS, renal as well as vascular and glomerular involvement is observed. Systemic lupus erythematosus and other connective tissue diseases should be excluded to diagnose primary APS.

Methods: This study was carried out with 54 patients who experienced two or more fistula failures in the late period after arteriovenous fistula operation and 58 control patients with no history of arteriovenous fistula failure in 3 years or longer. The polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism method was used to determine the vitamin D receptor TaqI, FokI, and ApaI polymorphisms.
Background: Plasma level of N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (P-NTproBNP) is a useful marker in prediction of mortality in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. However, the predictive value of spent dialysate counterpart (D-NTproBNP) of plasma NTproBNP on mortality and dropout is not known.
Materials And Methods: Simultaneous P-NTproBNP and D-NTproBNP assays were performed after an overnight dwell in 44 scheduled ambulatory PD patients.
Objectives: To compare the effects of topical silicone gel and corticosteroid cream for preventing hypertrophic scar and keloid formation following Pfannenstiel incisions.
Material And Methods: Fifty patients operated for benign gynecological diseases through primary Pfannenstiel incision were included. The wounds were randomly allocated to the treatment and control arms.

Ureter injuries are uncommon but dreaded complications in gynecologic surgery and a frequent cause of conversion to laparotomy. Recently, a few papers reported the repair of gynecologic ureteral injuries using laparoscopy with encouraging results. In these case reports, we aimed to present two laparoscopically repaired ureter injuries during total laparoscopic hysterectomies (TLH).

Materials And Methods: Seventy-seven women who were scheduled to undergo hysterectomy without oophorectomy for benign gynecologic conditions were included in the study. The women were assigned to laparoscopic or open abdominal hysterectomy according to the surgeons preference.
Background: Patients undergoing noncardiac, nonvascular surgery (NCNVS) are at risk of perioperative cardiovascular events. However, benefits of cardiology consultation (CC) in patients with known or suspected cardiac disease undergoing intermediate-risk NCNVS is unknown.
Methods: The study group included 700 consecutive patients referred for CC before intermediate-risk NCNVS in a tertiary-care teaching hospital.
Primary glomerulopathies are those disorders that affect glomerular structure, function, or both in the absence of a multisystem disorder. We aimed to evaluate the frequency of MEFV gene mutation to show possible coexistence of FMF in patients diagnosed with biopsy-proven primary glomerulonephritis (GN). A total of 64 patients with biopsy-proven primary GN were included in the study.

Background: Although an enlarged left atrium has recently emerged as a marker of adverse outcomes in various diseases, its discriminatory value and prognostic role in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) are not well studied. We studied whether left atrial volume index (LAVI) predicts mortality and discriminates stroke subtypes after AIS.
Methods: We prospectively followed 310 consecutive first-ever AIS patients aged 50 years or older who were admitted to the hospital within 24 hours of the onset of stroke symptoms.
A prospective study was conducted to evaluate the effect of progestogens on the pregnancy outcome of threatened abortion (TA). A total of 251 pregnant women less than 20 weeks of gestational age (GA) were included. Group 1 consisted of women with vaginal bleeding who had already been under treatment with progestogens and Group 2 was composed of women with vaginal bleeding who were only followed without progestogen therapy, whereas Group 3 was the control group without any vaginal bleeding or progestogen therapy.

Methods: In this observational study design, two hundred forty four poor ovarian responders were retrospectively evaluated for their response to GnRH agonist protocol (group-1, n=135) or GnRH antagonist protocol (group-2, n=109). Clinical pregnancy rate was the primary end point and was compared between the groups.
Background: Hemolytic uremic syndrome is characterized by acute renal failure, thrombocytopenia, and Coombs-negative hemolytic anemia. In C3 mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis, an increase in mesangial cell proliferation without thickening in the glomerular capillary wall can be seen under light microscopy, but the definitive diagnosis is made with the immunohistologic demonstration of isolated C3 deposits in the mesangium. C3 glomerulonephritis may be detected in childhood; however, in this case report we describe the first case of isolated C3 glomerulonephritis together with atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome in an adult patient.

FD and familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) have typical clinical similarities, and both diseases may progress to end-stage renal diseases. In this study, we aimed to determine the prevalence of FD in patients with FMF from Central Anatolia of Turkey.

Material And Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted on women with an obstetric history of cervical insufficiency on whom CC was applied or not. The two groups were compared for the main measure outcomes of mean gestational age at delivery, birth weight, Apgar scores at five minutes, number of premature and preterm deliveries, rate of preterm premature rupture of membranes, incidence of neonatal death, and admission to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate nonadherence to diet and fluid restrictions and its relation with the level of disability in patients on chronic hemodialysis (CH).
Methods: The study design was a descriptive survey. The data were obtained from 186 patients in hemodialysis centers in Turkey.

Spondylodiscitis is a rare but severe complication of sacral colpopexy (SC) procedure. Although the term 'spondylodiscitis' refers to infection of vertebral body and intervertebral disc space, neither the infecting microorganism could be isolated nor any purulent material could be observed during the second surgery and there was failure of different regimens of antibiotherapy. This type of spondylodiscitis cases might be explained by the graft rejection hypothesis.

Background: Endometriosis is a complex disease with a spectrum of pain symptoms from mild dysmenorrhea to debilitating pelvic pain. There is no concrete evidence in the literature whether endometriotic cyst per se, causes pain spectrum related to the disease. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of surgical removal of endome- triomas on pain symptoms.

Methods: In this prospective observational study 150 women with a history of two or more previous unexplained first trimester pregnancy loss who received LMWH; either enoxaparin (n=50), tinzaparin (n=50) or nothing (n=50) were followed for the pregnancy outcome measures. Only the patients who have used standardized dosage of LMWH (4000 IU/day enoxaparin or 3500 IU/day tinzaparin ) were included to the study.
