Purpose: To evaluate the near reflex components, including accommodation, convergence, and binocular fusional vergences in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS).
Material-method: MS patients under 35 years of age without visual evoked potential (VEP) abnormalities (MS Group) and age-matched healthy individuals of (Control Group) were included in the study. Fusional vergence amplitudes, the amplitude of accommodation (AA), stereopsis measurements, near-object fixation and near point of convergence (NPC) measurements, Convergence Insufficiency Symptoms Survey (CISS) results, and the presence of nystagmus were recorded retrospectively from the files of the cases.

A growing amount of plastic waste is finding its way into natural ecosystems as a result of the widespread usage of plastics in modern society. These wastes degrade physically and biologically over time, transforming into microplastics (MPs) and nanoplastics (NPs). MPs and NPs emissions from the terrestrial environment then mix with rivers and eventually the seas, forming garbage.

PCH contains a thiazolidine ring that aids in iron chelation but is prone to hydrolysis, leading to the formation of 2-(2-hydroxylphenyl)-thiazole-4-carbaldehyde (IQS). Using mass spectrometry, we demonstrated that PCH undergoes hydrolysis and oxidation in solution, resulting in the formation of aeruginoic acid (AA).

The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of lung near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) for determination of the severity of Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS) and the requirement of surfactant therapy in preterm infants.
Methods: A total of 60 preterm infants with RDS were evaluated in terms of the requirement of surfactant therapy, as surfactant group (SG) or no-surfactant group (CG).
Purpose: To compare AcrySof MA60AC (Alcon Laboratories, Fort Worth, TX, USA) and Sensar AR40e (Johnson and Johnson, Santa Ana, CA, USA) used in Yamane sutureless scleral fixation technique in terms of visual acuity, refractive stability, and complications.
Methods: A retrospective, cross-sectional study was conducted in Istanbul Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital. Patients were divided into two groups: The first group consisted of patients with MA60AC lenses, while the second group consisted of patients with AR40e.
Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have transformed the treatment landscape for solid tumors, offering substantial survival benefits. Despite this progress, many patients do not achieve durable responses, highlighting the need for novel prognostic biomarkers. This study investigates the association between serum sodium levels and survival outcomes in patients treated with ICIs.

We studied the effects of powdered maca root extract on the growth potential of in vitro cultured porcine cells prior to its use as an additive in animal nutrition. Fibroblast cell viability (MTT), cell proliferation (BrdU), and apoptosis level (TUNEL) were measured for a range of extract doses (0, 0.

Background: The objective of this study is to evaluate the correlation between survival outcomes and the modified cachexia index (mCXI) in patients with metastatic breast cancer who have been treated with cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) 4/6 inhibitors.
Methods: This study was conducted on patients with metastatic breast cancer who received CDK 4/6 inhibitors (either Palbociclib or Ribociclib) between January 2020 and November 2024.
Results: 240 patients were included.
Objectives: It is known that surgical treatment is advantageous in terms of efficacy and survival in colorectal cancer and neuroendocrine tumor liver metastases. Our aim in this study was to determine the results of surgical treatment of non-colorectal (NCR), non-neuroendocrine tumor (NNET) liver metastases (LM).
Material And Methods: A total of 125 patients having NCR and NNET were included in the study.
Background: The aim was the effects of interscalene block (ISB) on blood pressure, focusing on identifying anatomical and clinical predictors of hypertensive responses. The aim is to improve the safety and effectiveness of ISB, especially in patients at increased risk of adverse hemodynamic events.
Methods: We conducted a prospective cohort study including patients undergoing ISB.

The study set out to find out how common urine incontinence was in the community and how it affected people's quality of life and other relevant characteristics. Patients who applied to Family Medicine Outpatient Clinics were asked to complete a questionnaire as part of the study. Participants who consented to participate in the study were given access to a questionnaire that included the Incontinence Quality of Life Scale (I-QOL), the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Short Form (ICIQ-SF), and the Three Incontinence Questions (3IS) form.

Its clinical presentation ranges from nonspecific abdominal pain to septic conditions associated with an acute abdomen. Timely and accurate diagnosis is critical in patient management, as delayed diagnosis or inadequate treatment can result in increased morbidity and life-threatening complications such as perforation or biliary peritonitis.

Electroadhesive (EA) clutches are promising for advanced motion and force control in robotics, haptics, and rehabilitation, owing to their compactness and light weight. However, their practical use is limited by the inability to deliver high forces at low voltages, primarily due to a lack of understanding of their mechanics. We introduce a novel deformable body fracture mechanics approach and high-resolution strain field imaging to reveal that nonuniform stress distributions cause EA clutches to fail through delamination and crack propagation.
