Pterygium is a frequent eye surface condition that is characterized by a high rate of proliferation, fibrovascular development, cellular migration, corneal infiltration, and angiogenesis. We investigated that ex vivo primary pterygium and conjunctival cell cultures were generated to analyze the effect of trehalose on cellular proliferation. After trehalose treatment, we performed microarray analysis to evaluate changes in the mRNA profile.

Objective: The purpose of this study is comparing the newborn hearing screening failure rate between phenylketonuria (PKU) infants and matched healthy control infants.
Patients And Methods: Between April 2021 and April 2023, data obtained from the national newborn hearing screening program were examined for patients who presented to the pediatric metabolism clinic of Konya City Hospital with a clinical and genetic diagnosis of PKU. A healthy control group, matched for age and gender, was established.
Mental health problems were found to be more common than physical health problems in cancer caregivers in palliative care units. This is a quasi-experimental study planned to determine the effect of the meditation based mandala programme on distress, anxiety and depression in caregivers of cancer patients in a palliative care unit. Planned as a single-group pre-test/post-test design, with a total of 11 caregivers.

A standard experimental endometriosis model was created with 18 Whistar-Albino rats, and after 1 month, the sizes of the endometriotic explants were measured. The rats were randomized as study and control groups.

Some research also examined the effect of stress and warning on the true and false recognitions; however, so far most of the studies have yielded contradictory results or seems inadequate to understand the effect of these factors on false memory phenomenon. The purpose of this study is to examine the joint effects of stress and warning on the frequency of false and true memories elicited by the list-learning paradigm.

For this reason, the mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitors (mTORi) such as sirolimus (SRL) and everolimus (EVE) has been preferred more frequently, as they are associated with fewer complications and longer graft function. MATERIAL AND METHODS We enrolled 89 adult renal transplant patients (37 patients on mTORi and 52 on CNI) who had similar age, sex, primary renal disease, dialysis type, post-transplant follow-up period, and donor type.

Objective: This study was planned to determine the effect of art-based mandala intervention on the distress and anxiety experienced by cancer patients.
Methods: This semi-experimental study with a single group pretest-posttest design was performed with 12 breast cancer survival patients. The data were collected through "Patient Diagnostic Form", "Distress Thermometer", "Trait Anxiety Inventory".
This study aimed to determine the expression of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) pathway related miRNAs in experimental acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in rats, and to elucidate the underlying molecular mechanism. Twenty four sprague dawley rats were randomly divided into two groups; LPS (n = 12) and control (n = 12). Experimental ARDS was induced by intraperitoneal injection of LPS in LPS group.

Methods: In a cross-sectional design, following single-stage cluster sampling all married women living in three representative areas (n = 1323) were approached at their place of residence. Female sexual dysfunction, poor mental health and marital adjustment were assessed with the 9-item Index of Female Sexual Function, the 12-item General Health Questionnaire, and Locke-Wallace Short Marital-Adjustment Test, respectively.
Introduction: Hospital evacuations of patients with special needs are extremely challenging, and it is difficult to train hospital workers for this rare event.Hypothesis/Problem:Researchers developed an in-situ simulation study investigating the effect of standardized checklists on the evacuation of a patient under general anesthesia from the operating room (OR) and hypothesized that checklists would improve the completion rate of critical actions and decrease evacuation time.
Methods: A vertical evacuation of the high-fidelity manikin (SimMan3G; Laerdal Inc.
Background: To our knowledge, the early effect of the fear caused by terrorism on human health, especially its effect on the number of visits to medical emergency departments (EDs), has not yet been studied.
Objectives: To observe the effect of fear from terrorist alerts on the use of EDs and on the rate of cardiovascular (CV) and/or cerebrovascular events.
Setting: In Istanbul, Turkey, there was a terror alert on the weekend of 19 and 20 March 2016.
The functional life of a dam is often determined by the rate of sediment delivery to its reservoir. Therefore, an accurate estimate of the sediment load in rivers with dams is essential for designing and predicting a dam's useful lifespan. The most credible method is direct measurements of sediment input, but this can be very costly and it cannot always be implemented at all gauging stations.

Material And Method: With the participation of 22 institutions around Turkey that were included in the Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Study Group, 89,324 cholecystectomy specimens sampled from 2003 to 2016 were retrospectively evaluated. The numbers of adenocarcinomas, dysplasias, intracholecystic neoplasms/adenomas, intestinal metaplasias and reactive atypia were identified with the review of pathology reports and the regional and countrywide incidence rates were presented in percentages.
Background: Ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is a leading cause of acute kidney injury (AKI). The inflammatory response that drives IRI involves upregulation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), which results in proteolytic degradation of renal microvascular matrix. Evidence suggests a potential protective role of active vitamin D on ischemic injury by downregulating MMPs.

Atypical hemolytic-uremic syndrome is a disease characterized by nonimmune hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and renal failure. In this study, we present a case of a patient with atypical hemolytic-uremic syndrome treated successfully with eculizumab. A 20-year-old female was admitted with clinical signs of atypical hemolytic syndrome.

The purpose of our study is to investigate the relation between the ß-2 microglobulin (ß-2µ ) and GLS-% and LAVI in patients with chronic kidney disease not yet on dialysis.
Methods: Our study was a non-randomized, controlled, prospective study.
Background/aim: Fluid overload and cardiac dysfunction is well established in hemodialysis patients. But in predialysis chronic kidney disease, the association of fluid overload and cardiac dysfunction is relatively unknown. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between fluid overload and cardiac dysfunction in predialysis chronic kidney disease patients.

Ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging findings of the mass (located along the thymic descent pathway along the thymopharyngeal tract and has identical echostructure and signal intensities to the native thymus in the superior mediastinum) would lead to the diagnosis. The diagnosis is confirmed by fine needle aspiration biopsy or histopathology after resection.
