Concordance of positron emission tomography and computed tomography in patients with locally advanced gastric and esophageal cancer.

Background: PET-CT is important for evaluating the cancer stage preoperatively. In patients with locally advanced disease, who are candidates for curative treatment modalities following computed tomography (CT) and ultrasonography evaluation, PET-CT can show distant metastases and spare patients unnecessary surgical interventions. We aimed to evaluate the contribution of PET-CT scans compared to conventional imaging studies on the change of treatment plan in patients with locally advanced esophagogastric cancer from neoadjuvant to palliative setting.

Endovascular Treatment of Iliac Vein Compression (May-Thurner) Syndrome: Angioplasty and Stenting with or without Manual Aspiration Thrombectomy and Catheter-Directed Thrombolysis.

Purpose: May-Thurner syndrome (MTS) is a rare clinical entity featuring venous obstruction of the left lower extremity. The aim of the present study was to report our experience with MTS and to evaluate the utility of treatment using endovascular techniques.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data on 23 MTS patients (21 females, two males; mean age 44 ± 15 years).

Endovascular management of iatrogenic renal arterial lesions and clinical outcomes.

Purpose: We aimed to evaluate iatrogenic renal arterial lesions, including pseudoaneurysm, arteriovenous fistula, and arteriocaliceal fistula, their management by endovascular embolization, and the clinical results.

Methods: Fifty-five patients (forty males, fifteen females) with a median age of 40 years (range, 8-85 years), who underwent endovascular embolization of iatrogenic renal arterial lesions between March 2003 and December 2013 were included in this retrospective study. Types of iatrogenic lesions and details of embolization procedures were reported.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of collagenated heterologous bone graft (CHBG) and Ankaferd Blood Stopper (ABS), a plant extract, on bone healing after sinus floor augmentation.

Materials And Methods: Thirty-six New Zealand rabbits were used. Bilateral sinus augmentation was performed, and 72 bone defects were created.

We aimed to compare serum galectin-3 levels in three patient groups with chronic hepatitis B and C virus (HBV, HCV), cirrhosis secondary to HBV or HCV, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) secondary to HBV or HCV and evaluate the role of galectin-3 during HCC progression.

Patients And Methods: Nineteen patients with hepatocellular cancer, 22 patients with cirrhosis, and 24 patients with chronic hepatitis B and C were included in this study.

Human activities in many parts of the world have greatly affected natural areas. Therefore, monitoring and forecasting of land-cover changes are important components for sustainable utilization, conservation, and development of these areas. This research has been conducted on Igneada, a legally protected area on the northwest coast of Turkey, which is famous for its unique, mangrove forests.

Complication After Cryosurgery Treatment for Gingival Melanin Pigmentation: A Case Report.

Introduction: Gingival melanin pigmentation (GMP) is considered a physiologic or racial situation. Complaints of "black gums" are common, and demands for depigmentation are usually made for esthetic reasons. In this case report, a cryosurgical depigmentation procedure is described and the effectiveness and complications of cryosurgery are examined.
