Objectives: Hypothalamic hamartoma (HH) is a rare condition that causes epilepsy and central precocious puberty (CPP) at an early age. In this report, we describe a child with CPP secondary to HH and discuss the current literature.

Case Presentation: A 26-month-old girl was brought to our hospital for evaluation of breast enlargement.

Blockchain technology has revolutionized the management of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) networks by enhancing security, enabling decentralized control, and improving operational efficiency. This study assesses the efficiency of private blockchain architectures in UAV networks, specifically examining important performance metrics such as throughput, latency, scalability, and packet size. Furthermore, we evaluate the effectiveness of UAV networks when integrating private blockchain technologies, focusing particularly on key performance indicators such as area, altitude, and data rate.

Medical management or surgery for acute cholecystitis: Enhancing treatment selection with decision trees.

Background: This study aimed to create an algorithm using the decision tree method to classify patients with suspected acute cholecystitis into those who may improve with medical treatment, those who should undergo surgery for acute cholecystitis, and those with complicated cholecystitis, using laboratory parameters alone.

Methods: A total of 1,352 patients treated for acute cholecystitis at our hospital over four years were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were divided into groups based on whether they received medical treatment or surgery.

Pro's and con's of different blocks for postoperative analgesia after video-assisted thoracic surgery.

Purpose Of Review: Although there are a lot of studies examining the effects of different blocks for postoperative analgesia after video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS), the results are controversial.

Recent Findings: Paravertebral block, serratus anterior plane block and erector spinae plane block appear to be effective and beneficial for post-VATS analgesia, but probably in different manners.

Summary: All three blocks can be suggested for daily practice, the choice should be based on personal experience and preference of the anesthetist.

Propolis is very significant in terms of its phytochemical content and biological activity among bee products. In this study, the antioxidant activities (total phenolic and flavonoid, Fe, Cu (CUPRAC), Fe-TPTZ (FRAP) reducing, and DPPH, ABTS scavenging assays) of propolis collected from the Bitlis province of Türkiye were determined. In addition, the carbonic anhydrase I and II isoenzymes (hCA I and hCA II), α-glycosidase, acetylcholinesterase (AChE), and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) inhibition activity and phytochemical profile of propolis and mineral content were determined by LC-MS/MS and ICP-MS, respectively.

Should Gallbladder Pathologies Be Investigated in Patients With Colon Polyps?

Background Data regarding the frequency of development of gallbladder pathologies in patients with colon polyps are quite limited and heterogeneous. Hence, this study aimed to investigate whether colon polyps cause an increased risk of developing gallbladder pathologies and the necessity of ultrasonographic screening. Methodology This retrospective, cross-sectional study was conducted among adult patients who underwent a colonoscopy and hepatobiliary ultrasound as part of their health check-up from January 2018 to January 2023.

Early and Unplanned Readmission of Patients After Thoracic Surgery Operations.

Background Thoracic surgery patients face unique postoperative challenges, particularly those undergoing lung resections. This study aimed to identify common complications and their management within the 30-day postoperative period, as well as investigate the relationship between early postoperative complications and unplanned outpatient follow-ups. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 947 patients who underwent thoracic surgery between January 2020 and December 2023.

Clinical outcomes in patients in any phase of CML treated with ponatinib in France-Data from the TOPASE observational study.

The TOPASE study was set up to evaluate the outcomes of chronic myeloid leukaemia [CML] patients treated with ponatinib (PON) in a real-world setting in France. One hundred and twenty CML patients, 105 in chronic phase (CP), 8 in accelerated phase (AP) and 7 in blastic phase (BP) were included. Fifty-one (49%) of the CP-CML patients were in third line of treatment.

The influence of plasticizer on the mechanical, structural, thermal and strain recovery properties following stress-relaxation process of silk fibroin/sodium alginate biocomposites for biomedical applications.

The influence of plasticizer glycerol (GLY) on the mechanical, structural, and thermal properties of silk fibroin (SF)/sodium alginate (SA) biocomposite films was investigated in detail. As the SF/SA ratio increased up to 65%, the SF content significantly improved the Tensile strength (σ), Young's modulus (E) but reduced the elongation at break (ε). To modify and enhance the elasticity and flexibility of the biocomposite films, the GLY as a plasticizer was used at different ratio from 20 to 50% for each SF/SA biocomposite films.

Health literacy of university students: A mixed method study.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the health literacy levels of university students and to examine their views and perceptions on this concept.

Method: The research was conducted as a mixed methods research between December 2022 and May 2024. Data were collected using the Personal Information Form, Turkey Health Literacy Scale-32 and Semi-Structured Interview Form.

Evaluation of Some Potentially Toxic Elements and Associated Ecological and Health Risks in Topsoil Samples Adjacent to an Industrial Zone in Turkey.

Potentially toxic element (PTE) pollution as a result of industrial activities remains a global problem that poses serious threats to human and ecological health. PTEs (Al, Fe, Ti, Mn, V, Zn, Cu, Cr, Ni, Pb, Co, and As) are metals or metalloids with biological toxicity. This study analyzed the concentrations of these PTEs and the physicochemical properties of topsoil samples collected from areas near industrial districts in the Samsun province of Turkey to evaluate ecological and health risks, estimating various indexes.

Comparative analysis of iPSC-derived NK cells from two differentiation strategies reveals distinct signatures and cytotoxic activities.

Purpose: The ability to generate natural killer (NK) cells from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) has given rise to new possibilities for the large-scale production of homogeneous immunotherapeutic cellular products and opened new avenues towards the creation of "off-the-shelf" cancer immunotherapies. However, the differentiation of NK cells from iPSCs remains poorly understood, particularly regarding the ontogenic landscape of iPSC-derived NK (iNK) cells produced and the influence that the differentiation strategy employed may have on the iNK profile.

Methods: To investigate this question, we conducted a comparative analysis of two sets of iNK cells generated from the same iPSC line using two different protocols: (i) a short-term, clinically compatible feeder-free protocol corresponding to primitive hematopoiesis, and (ii) a lymphoid-based protocol representing the definitive hematopoietic step.

Across the world and within Europe, a growing number of consumers are choosing to buy gluten-free products. Motivations for a gluten-free diet and the consequences of consuming gluten are varied, from a medical necessity for those diagnosed with celiac disease to a range of health complications and discomfort for those who are gluten-intolerant. In this research, 7296 gluten-free consumers across 13 European countries responded to an online survey on the 33 types of gluten-free products purchased, how frequently they purchased them, their satisfaction with gluten-free quality and availability, the problems they have experienced, and the strategies they have employed to cope with these problems.

The discovery of (meta)stable pre-nucleation species (PNS) challenges the established nucleation-and-growth paradigm. While stable PNS with long lifetimes are readily accessible experimentally, identifying and characterizing early-stage intermediates with short lifetimes remains challenging. We demonstrate that species with lifetimes ≪ 5 s can be characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy when boosted by 'Bullet' dynamic nuclear polarization (Bullet-DNP).

Animated video reduces pain and anxiety during pin removal in children with supracondylar humerus fractures: a randomized controlled trial.

Introduction: The aim of this study; is to determine the level of pain and anxiety experienced by pediatric patients with operated humeral supracondylar fractures during pin removal, and to investigate the effectiveness of animated video impressions.

Materials And Methods: This randomized controlled study included 180 patients aged between 4 and 12 years. The patients were divided into four groups: Group 1-control; Group 2-watched the introductory animation video before the procedure; Group 3-using analgesic before the procedure (ibuprofen 10 mg/kg); Group 4-watched the introductory animation video and used analgesic before the procedure.

Effects of Clinic-based and Telerehabilitation-based Motor Control Exercises in Individuals with Chronic Low-back Pain: A Randomized Controlled Trial With 3-Month Follow-up.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of clinic-based and telerehabilitation-based motor control exercises in individuals with chronic low-back pain 3 months posttreatment.

Methods: Forty-two participants were randomized to either clinic-based or telerehabilitation-based groups, performing exercises 3 times weekly for 8 weeks. Assessments were conducted pre-intervention, postintervention and 1 and 3 month follow-ups.
