Background: Surface electromyography (sEMG) has been used in a wide range of studies conducted in the field of dysphagia.

Objectives: The main aim of this case-control study is to obtain how submental and infrahyoid sEMG signals differ based on residue, penetration and aspiration.

Methods: A total of 100 participants (50 patients with suspected dysphagia and 50 healthy controls) were enrolled in the present study.

The SPICE Modeling of a Radiation Sensor Based on a MOSFET with a Dielectric HfO/SiO Double-Layer.

We report on a procedure for extracting the SPICE model parameters of a RADFET sensor with a dielectric HfO/SiO double-layer. RADFETs, traditionally fabricated as PMOS transistors with SiO, are enhanced by incorporating high-k dielectric materials such as HfO to reduce oxide thickness in modern radiation sensors. The fabrication steps of the sensor are outlined, and model parameters, including the threshold voltage and transconductance, are extracted based on experimental data.

High and Low Adherence to Mediterranean and DASH Diet Patterns and the Risk of Heart Failure: A Meta-Analysis of Observational Studies.

Background: The relationship between heart failure (HF) and Mediterranean and DASH diets is not well delineated. This meta-analysis aimed to assess the effectiveness of high adherence to Mediterranean and DASH diets compared to low adherence in reducing the risk of incident HF (primary prevention of HF) and reducing all-cause mortality in patients with HF (secondary prevention of HF).

Methods: The reporting stages of this meta-analysis closely adhered to the PRISMA guidelines.

Enhanced Fluid Mixing in Microchannels Using Levitated Magnetic Microrobots: A Numerical Study.

The efficient mixing of fluids at microscale dimensions presents challenges due to the dominant laminar flow regime which restricts convective mixing. This study introduces a numerical analysis of a novel microrobotic mixing system with a levitated propeller robot, driven by magnetic fields, within a Y-shaped microchannel with a square cross-section (500 × 500 μm). Our research investigates the fluid mixing effectiveness facilitated by the microrobot through various levitation heights and orientations to enhance the mixing index (MI).

A comprehensive retrospective study was conducted at a single center on patients who received NACTx for BC between 2015 and 2021. Medical records of 242 patients were reviewed.

Diagnostic Potential of CTRP5 and Chemerin for Coronary Artery Disease: A Study by Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography.

: As an endocrine organ, adipose tissue produces adipokines that influence coronary artery disease (CAD). The objective of this study was to assess the potential value of CTRP5 and chemerin in differentiating coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA)-confirmed coronary artery disease (CAD) versus non-CAD. Secondarily, within the CCTA-confirmed CAD group, the aim was to investigate the relationship between the severity and extent of CAD, as determined by coronary artery calcium score (CACS), and the levels of CTRP5 and chemerin.

Resting-state electroencephalographic rhythms depend on sex in patients with dementia due to Parkinson's and Lewy Body diseases: An exploratory study.

Parkinson's disease with dementia (PDD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) are more prevalent in males than females. Furthermore, they typically showed abnormally high delta (< 4 Hz) and low alpha (8-10 Hz) rhythms from resting-state electroencephalographic (rsEEG) activity. Here, we hypothesized that those abnormalities may depend on the patient's sex.

Propolis, a natural product with remarkable therapeutic potential, has gained attention for its antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. In this study, propolis samples from Sarıyaprak, Kovanağzı, and Çemikari in Pervari, Siirt province, were analysed comprehensively. The evaluation included wax composition, DPPH and FRAP assays, total phenolic and flavonoid content, and pollen analysis.

Evaluating the characteristics of students in aviation, including sensory experiences such as stress, decision-making, and pattern recognition, is important for safe flight. This study aims to investigate the cognitive and emotional impacts of face pareidolia among pilot students by using the digital Pareidolia Test (PT).

Background: Huntington's disease (HD) is a multifaceted neurological disorder characterized by the progressive deterioration of motor, cognitive, and psychiatric functions. Facile synthesis of unknown 6,7-dihydrofuro[3,4-]pyridines and 3,4-diaryloylpyridines from -homopropargylic β-enaminones.

In this paper, we have uncovered a new reaction of -homopropargylic β-enaminones, -(4-phenyl-3-butynyl)-β-enaminones. When subjected to a reaction with excess molecular iodine or -iodosuccinimide in the presence of cesium carbonate, -homopropargylic β-enaminones afford 6,7-dihydrofuro[3,4-]pyridines in low to moderate yields. The generation of two new C/O-C bonds during the reaction leads to the construction of unknown heterobicyclic 5,6-fused ring systems.

Background/aims: Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) with human leukocyte antigen (HLA) typing represents a significant advancement in treating inherited hematological disorders, particularly thalassemia major. This technology enables the birth of healthy children who can serve as compatible stem cell donors for their affected siblings. Turkey is a world leader in both PGD+HLA typing technology and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation from savior siblings born through PGD+HLA typing.

For extended research in interference screening, repeated estradiol measurements for control and case samples were carried out for method comparison (three immunoassay platforms and one liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) measurement), dilution test, polyethylene glycol (PEG) precipitation, and heterophile antibody blocking tube.

Our study highlights fatty acid-binding protein 4 (FABP4), a key regulator of metabolic dysfunction and inflammation, as a modulator of SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis, correlating strongly with disease severity in COVID-19 patients.

Effect of pet therapy on sleep and life quality of elderly individuals.

Aim: The study aimed to determine the sleep and life quality of elderly individuals living in a nursing home using pet therapy, a complementary and supportive therapy.

Methods: The study was conducted with elderly individuals in a nursing home in Tokat province in Turkey. The study sample consisted of 59 elderly individuals, with 30 in the intervention group and 29 in the control group, who met the inclusion criteria.
