Pseudohypoaldosteronism (PHA) is a rare disorder that, if not promptly recognized and treated, can lead to life-threatening hyperkalemia resulting in cardiac arrest and death. Systemic PHA is caused by variants that deactivate the epithelial sodium channel (ENaC) subunits. Management is challenging due to high-dose oral replacement therapy, and patients with systemic PHA require lifelong treatment.

Controlled drug release using biocompatible hydrogels offers a unique solution, but limitations of in situ gelation restrict their application. Gellan sheared hydrogels (GSHs) retain the advantages of hydrogels, however their unique microstructures lend themselves to intra-articular application - capable of shear thinning under force but restructuring at rest to enhance residence.

Objective: This study's primary aim is to evaluate the relationship between obesity and sluggish cognitive tempo (SCT).
Method: The study group consisted of obese ( = 37) and morbidly obese ( = 42) patients. The healthy control group included 38 children and adolescents.
Background: In countries with low rates of deceased donor solid organ transplantations, live-donor liver transplantation is the preferred definitive treatment for children and adults with end-stage liver disease. However, it is known that a remarkable number of potential living liver donors are rejected due to ABO incompatibility, suboptimal liver mass, or anatomical features. Paired exchange liver transplantation (PELT) practice emerged to overcome these obstacles.

Turkish Society of Gastroenterology Pancreas Working Group developed comprehensive guidance statements regarding the management of AP that include its epidemiology, etiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic criteria, disease severity, treatment, prognosis, local and systemic complications. The statements were developed through literature review, deliberation, and consensus opinion.

Objective: The objective of this study is to establish the intermediary role of resilience in the relation between nurses' competencies in disaster management and perceived stress.
Method: The sampling of this descriptive and cross-sectional study included 240 nurses from across Türkiye.
Background: Iron refractory iron deficiency anemia (IRIDA) is a rare autosomal recessive type of anemia characterized by unresponsiveness to oral iron therapy and partial response to parenteral iron therapy. In this article, we report the clinical presentation of four patients with IRIDA admitted to our clinic, including their laboratory values at admission and after oral and parenteral iron treatment, and the analysis of their mutation(s) in TMPRSS6 gene.
Case: Four patients from different families, aged between 3 and 14 years, two girls and two boys, two of whom were from consanguineous marriages, who were diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia in primary health care institutions and referred to our clinic because of inadequate response to oral iron treatment were included.
Context: In this paper, we present a theoretical study on the complexation of Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) with a pyrazinamide ligand (PZA), which plays an important role in the treatment of tuberculosis and has biological and pharmacological benefits. It is a hybrid organic/inorganic material involving coordination between a metal ion and PZA ligand containing different coordination sites. This allows it to have different binding modes with metal ions and, therefore, provides a versatile ability to coordinate with metals.

Measurements of nuclear characteristics can improve reproducibility, but current manual methods are time-consuming. The aim of this study was to explore the limitations of estimates and develop alternative morphometric solutions for canine cutaneous mast cell tumors (ccMCTs).

Our study aimed to understand the sociodemographic, clinical, and laboratory characteristics as well as diagnostic and treatment modalities of adult patients with EPTB. This is a multicentric retrospective study that covers patients with EPTB cases followed up from January 2015 to December 2022 among tuberculosis (TB) dispensaries and Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology clinics of 15 hospitals located in various regions of Turkey.

Material And Methods: Cell viability following exposure to varying lycopene concentrations was determined using an XTT assay. ELISA measured key cell death proteins (Bax, BCL-2, etc.
Background/aim: This study compares the effectiveness of teletherapy and face-to-face voice therapy in treating vocal fold nodules (VFNs) among female patients.
Methods: Fifteen individuals who met the inclusion criteria were enrolled in the study and randomized, but after some dropouts, the study was completed with ten patients diagnosed with VFNs. Six patients received teletherapy while four were treated with face-to-face voice therapy.
This study aimed to examine the compatibility between individuals with Alzheimer's disease (IwAD) and Eating Assessment Tool (EAT-10) results obtained from their caregivers and to compare EAT-10 results obtained from IwAD and caregivers with fiberoptic endoscopic swallow evaluation (FEES) results. EAT-10 questions were read aloud to the IwAD; simultaneously, the caregiver was asked to complete the EAT-10 by thinking of the IwAD in a different room. Aspiration, penetration, and residual status were first assessed as "present" or "absent" using FEES, then the Penetration Aspiration Scale (PAS) was used.

In addition, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is often performed to detect internal tandem duplication (ITD) mutations in exon 11 of the gene (-11-ITD) to predict the therapeutic response to tyrosine kinase inhibitors. This project aimed at training deep learning models (DLMs) to identify MCTs with -11-ITD solely based on morphology.

T2DM is linked to neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and vascular dementia. This study investigates the neuroprotective effects of bexarotene and icariin in a T2DM rat model, focusing on brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), and neurofilament-light chain (NfL) levels.

Background: Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) is a systemic disease more than a disease localized to the eye, and there may be vascular involvement in its pathogenesis.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) of patients with CSC, to compare it with that of healthy individuals, and to explore whether there might be an association between CSC and subclinical carotid atherosclerotic disease.
Materials And Methods: Adult patients with CSC (n = 30) and healthy individuals (n = 30) were included in this prospective study.
Object: As part of their treatment, patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM) have to be very careful with what they eat and with their insulin doses. Therefore, the risk of eating disorders increases in this patient group. In this study, we aimed to determine the disordered eating behaviors of patients with type 1 DM and to evaluate the sociodemographic characteristics, diabetes care behaviors, and quality-of-life scale results that these behaviors may be related to.
