Prolonged fecal shedding of replication-competent virus, lasting immune activation, and intestinal inflammation in a rhesus macaque after experimental SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Infection of an adult rhesus macaque with SARS-CoV-2 led to viral RNAemia in nose, throat, and lungs. The animal also presented extended fecal shedding of viral genomic and subgenomic messenger RNA and replication-competent virus for more than 3 weeks after infection. Positron emission tomography revealed increased intestinal glucose metabolism which was histologically related to inflammation of the ileum.

The Evaluation of Ocular Posterior Segment Findings in 5527 Term Infants Using Smartphone-Based Fundus Imaging.

To evaluate the two-year fundus examination outcomes of term infants undergoing eye screening. Retrospective review of our data of term infants at a tertiary care center (Ankara Bilkent City Hospital) from October 2021 to October 2023. All screened infants underwent red reflex test and dilated posterior segment examination.

Problem: This study aims to evaluate the role of the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and the systemic immune-response index (SIRI) in predicting adverse perinatal outcomes (APO) in pregnant women with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS).

Highly selective inhibitors of cyclin-dependent kinase 4 and 6 (CDK4/6is) have emerged as a standart of care for first- and second-line therapies in combination with endocrine therapy (ET) for HR+/HER2- metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients. It has been reported that combination therapy is more effective than ET alone and is safe in elderly patients as well as young patients. Nevertheless, elderly and very old patients with HR+/HER2-MBC treated with CDK4/6 inhibitor (CDK4/6i) combinations are relatively underrepresented in randomized controlled trials.

Current status and management of peri-implantitis: A systematic review.

Aim: To systematically review the literature on the surgical and non-surgical methods for managing peri-implantitis.

Materials And Methods: An electronic search for randomised controlled trials published between 2019 and 2023 in the English language was performed with the Medline/PubMed database according to the guidelines of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). Methods: Between February 2018 and January 2023, 80 eyes of 40 patients with lower lid dermatochalasis (LLD), lower lid laxity (LLL) or orbicularis laxity of the lower lid (OL) admitted to the oculoplastic surgery department of our clinic were included in the study. 18 eyes had LLD, 14 eyes had LLL, 18 eyes had LLD and LLL, and 30 eyes had LLD, LLL and OL.

Efficacy and prognostic factors of anti-PD1 and nivolumab-ipilimumab therapy in advanced melanoma patients resistant to prior ICI treatment.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have significantly improved the five-year survival rate for advanced melanoma. However, many patients exhibit resistance to ICI therapy. This study evaluated the efficacy and prognostic factors of anti-PD-1 (Group A) and nivolumab-ipilimumab (Group B) therapy in patients with advanced melanoma who were resistant to prior ICI therapy.

Measurement Properties and Determinants of the 6-Minute Walk Test in Patients with Lower Limb Lymphedema.

The aim of this study was to investigate the validity and reliability and identify determinants of the 6-minute walk test (6MWT) in patients with lower limb lymphedema (LLL). The study included 28 patients with LLL and 28 healthy subjects. To investigate the convergent validity and determinants of the 6MWT, patients were assessed using the following measurements: circumference measurement for lymphedema severity, hand-held dynamometry for muscle strength, time up and go for functional mobility, five-time sit-to-stand test for functional lower extremity strength, Lower Extremity Functional Scale for lower extremity functionality, Lymphedema Life Impact Scale for quality of life, and International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form for physical activity level.

Methods: Twenty-four adult female Wistar albino rats were randomly assigned to one of three groups for crush syndrome treat-ment: Control (C) group, gelsolin + crush fluid (gel) group, and crush fluid only (CF) group, each containing eight rats. Sedated rats underwent unilateral hind limb compression of 2 kg using a compression device, maintained for five hours.

Background: Head and neck squamous cell carcinomas are the seventh most common cancer accounting for 90 % of malignant neoplasia of the upper respiratory system. We aimed to analyze the relationships among these variations using computed tomography (CT) images.
