Background: Chorangiomatosis is a unique placental vascular abnormality that can cause growth retardation and even fetal demise in severe cases. In this study we aim to better understand this lesion and the possible clinical implications.
Methods And Materials: In this study 170 placentas were evaluated, both grossly and microscopically.
An increasing body of evidence suggests that anxiety is an independent predictor of adverse cardiovascular (CV) events. Individuals with high levels of anxiety are at increased risk of coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, stroke, fatal ventricular arrhythmias, and sudden cardiac death. Anxiety following a major cardiac event can impede recovery, and is associated with a higher morbidity and mortality.

Background: Overactive bladder (OAB) represents a disorder with overall increasing prevalence in the American population. However, gender-specific characteristics of OAB and how it relates to the general practitioner are not well described. We sought to determine the distribution and characteristics of OAB in women in a primary care setting.

Methods: An outpatient primary care setting was used to determine the prevalence and characteristics of OAB.
Nipple discharge is the third most common breast complaint after breast pain and breast mass. It is most often a benign process. Up to 50% women in their reproductive years can express one or more drops of fluid from the breast.

We have investigated the mitogenic effect of three mutant forms of human insulin on insulin-producing beta cells of the developing pancreas. We examined transgenic embryonic and adult mice expressing (i) human [AspB10]-proinsulin/insulin ([AspB10]ProIN/IN), produced by replacement of histidine by aspartic acid at position 10 of the B chain and characterized by an increased affinity for the insulin receptor; (ii) human [LeuA3]insulin, produced by the substitution of leucine for valine in position 3 of the A chain, which exhibits decreased receptor binding affinity; and (iii) human [LeuA3, AspB10]insulin "double" mutation. During development, beta cells of AspB10 embryos were twice as abundant and had a 3 times higher rate of proliferation compared with beta cells of littermate controls.

Risk factors for these infections include a depressed level of consciousness, a history of seizure, general anesthesia, central nervous system or neuromuscular disease, cerebrovascular accident, impaired swallowing and use of a tracheal or nasogastric tube. Clinical presentation includes fever, weight loss, malaise and cough productive of foul-smelling sputum.

Immunoblotting studies demonstrated that this protein is generated by partial protease digestion of a larger precursor (PrPSc) with an apparent Mr of 33 to 35 kDa, and that a protease-sensitive cellular PrP isoform, designated PrPC, is present in normal hamster brain. To characterize the relationships among these proteins, ELISA and immunoblotting studies were undertaken with rabbit antisera raised against three synthetic PrP peptides.
