Thrips are economically important pests, and some species transmit plant viruses that are widely distributed and can damage vegetables and cash crops. Although few studies on thrips species have been conducted in Bangladesh, the variation and genetic diversity of thrips species remain unknown. In this study, we collected thrips samples from 16 geographical locations throughout the country and determined the nucleotide sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (mtCOI) gene in 207 thrips individuals.
