Tacrolimus as the first-line agent in adult-onset minimal change disease: A randomized controlled study.

The present protocol is operationally simple and can be carried out without photoirradiation and under peroxide-free conditions, even on a gram scale, to afford the products in good to excellent yields. On the basis of mass spectrometry and control experiments, a catalytic reaction pathway has been proposed.

A regiospecific and enantiospecific synthesis of tritium-labeled 28-homocastasterone is reported. Appropriate chlorocarbonate, efficiently synthesized from the starting 28-homocastasterone in an overall yield of 46%, undergoes catalytic tritium dechlorination by the T /Pd[0]/Et N system, providing 28-[3β- H]homocastasterone, in a good yield, radiochemical purity (>97%), and with a high specific activity (5.8 Ci/mmol).

While post-transplantation anemia is usually due to graft dysfunction and drugs such as mycophenolate and cotrimoxazole, tacrolimus is an uncommon cause.

Evaluation of Dust Exposure among the Workers in Agricultural Industries in North-East India.

This study aims to quantify dust exposure among the workers in four different industrial settings: rice mills, flour mills, oil mills, and tea factories and to compare the obtained data with the permissible exposure limit (PEL) of Indian Union Ministry of Labour as well as to compare the dust exposure across activities and seasons. RespiCon(TM) particle sampler was used for collecting dust concentration in the breathing zone of the workers. In total, 149 workers participated in the study and 204 samples were collected.

Comparison of clinical efficacy of methylprednisolone and serratiopeptidase for reduction of postoperative sequelae after lower third molar surgery.

Background: Surgical removal of mandibular third molars results in some degree of post-operative pain, swelling and trismus. These can be controlled by proper administration of local anesthesia, careful bone removal, minimal trauma to adjacent soft tissues and administration of methylprednisolone and serratiopeptidase drugs. The aim of the present study was to compare the efficacy of methylprednisolone and serratiopeptidase in controlling post-operative pain, swelling and trismus after surgical removal of impacted mandibular third molars.

A comprehensive review in current developments of benzothiazole-based molecules in medicinal chemistry.

Benzothiazole (BTA) and its derivatives are the most important heterocyclic compounds, which are common and integral feature of a variety of natural products and pharmaceutical agents. Arterial thrombosis in "protein C deficiency"--a rare event.

We report here a case of a 35 year old male with protein C deficiency who presented with acute right sided hemiparesis with right sided facial palsy due to cerebral arterial thrombosis. He was treated with anticoagulation therapy and improved. This case is interesting as arterial thrombosis is rarely observed event in protein C deficiency.

Unlabelled: Marine coastal areas of India have vast diversity of sponges which harbours many endosymbiotic bacteria which are the source of many potential antimicrobial metabolites. This study focuses the screening and characterization of drug-producing bacteria symbiotically which are associated with marine sponges collected from Gulf of Mannar, South Coast India. Six different sponges were collected and they were identified on the basis of their morphology.
