The negative effects of land-use changes on biodiversity significantly contribute to climate change. Primates are among the animals most affected by these changes, because of their high dependence on forest cover where a lack of forest connectivity can limit their dispersal and segregate their populations. In this sense, protected areas (PAs) are crucial for conserving endangered primates, especially endemic species.

Background And Objective: Postoperative pulmonary rehabilitation in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients following thoracic surgery can be an important strategy for restoring functional exercise capacity. This study aimed to evaluate the changes in the Glittre-ADL test (TGlittre) in patients with NSCLC undergoing thoracic surgery and early home-based pulmonary rehabilitation and, subsequently, to assess the associations of the test results with muscle strength and quality of life (QoL).
Methods: This observational study evaluated 18 patients with NSCLC before and after home-based pulmonary rehabilitation.

Introduction: Clinical staging is widely applied in various fields of Medicine. Staging makes it possible to constitute early diagnoses and interventions, improving prognosis and preventing disease progression. In relation to Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD), staging is still an underdeveloped subject in the scientific literature.

Microbial inulinase enzymes have a number of applications in biotechnology. In this study, new strains of Aspergillus welwitschiae were investigated as producers of inulinases and their endo- and exo-inulases were characterized in silico and their protein modeling was performed. The inulinase production by A.

The majority of studies have investigated IPC alongside a placebo condition, but without a control condition that was devoid of experimental manipulation, thereby limiting accurate determination of the IPC effects. Therefore, the aims of this study wereto assess the impact of the IPC intervention, compared to both placebo and no intervention, on exercise capacity and athletic performance.

The timing of eating, in addition to the content of what is eaten, as well as chronotype and social jetlag (a marker of circadian misalignment), have been implicated in weight regulation. However, the current understanding of these chrono-related behaviours in individuals undergoing bariatric surgery is still scarce.

Background And Objective: Oral ivermectin, a broad-spectrum anti-parasitic drug, alone or in combination with permethrin, may be a cheaper and more convenient alternative drug to topical permethrin alone in the treatment of classic scabies. There are no previous studies on the treatment acceptability of the three interventions among individual patients with scabies in the Philippines. The purpose of this study was to understand the experiences and perceptions on treatment acceptability for oral ivermectin, topical permethrin or combination treatment among patients with scabies using the multiple-case study approach.

Materials And Methods: We present a retrospective, uncontrolled clinical case series in a single institution on patients treated with CT-guided cryoablation for symptomatic lumbar facet joint synovial cyst refractory to or not suitable for imaging-guided rupture procedure. In two cases, patients underwent cryoablation and cyst rupture within a 2-week period.
The expansion of technology motivates the increase of global demands for critical minerals. In this context, the exploration of secondary sources of these components is expanding. End-of-life batteries can be seen as potential sources of lithium, cobalt, nickel and manganese for electric vehicles or diverse applications in electronic equipments.

Objective: To systematically review the scientific production to investigate the association between iron, folate, and zinc deficiencies during pregnancy and LBW.
Data Sources: The search was carried out using high-sensitivity descriptors in the English, Portuguese, and Spanish languages, combined with Boolean operators, adapted to each of the following indexed databases: MEDLINE via PubMed, Embase, LILACS via BVS, CENTRAL, and Web of Science.
Context: Early age at menarche (AAM) is a risk factor for type 2 diabetes later in life, but the pathogenic pathways that confer increased risk remain unknown.
Objective: We examined the associations between AAM and inflammatory and glucose metabolism biomarkers among U.S.

This study aimed to describe a quantitative survey conducted with leaders to investigate effective and feasible actions that can be evaluated in computational models to inform policies to promote active mobility based in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. In 2022, an online survey was conducted during the Health Survey in São Paulo (Physical Activity and Environment study), which is monitored by representatives of nongovernmental organizations and public and private sector managers. A questionnaire was elaborated with three questions with 13 alternative answers about actions to promote walking and/or cycling.

The first step of the validation was to verify quantitatively and qualitatively that the VR platform can produce substantially equivalent 3D anatomical models, image contours, and measurements to those generated with existing commercial platforms. To achieve this, a total of eight image sets and 18 structures were segmented using both VR and reference commercial platforms.

Background: Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a gram-negative bacterium associated with the etiology of several gastrointestinal tract pathologies, and cagA-positive (cagA+) strains are found in populations with gastric ulcers and precancerous lesions, inducing pro-inflammatory responses. The development of neoplasms is related to microRNA (miRNA) dysregulation, indicating highly expressed miRNA-629.

The immobilization assays revealed a reduction in the biocatalysts' activity compared to the free enzyme. Among the modified ones, ACG 50 exhibited greater activity and better efficiency for reuse cycles, with superior values after 60 min and 90 min.
