Background: Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative disease associated with the accumulation of amyloid beta proteins to form plaques and the aggregation of hyperphosphorylated tau to form neurofibrillary tangles. Human fibroblast (SH-SY5Y) cells endogenously express Tau, and the expression is further amplified upon differentiation into neuronal cells, making it a cell model of Alzheimer's disease. Nigella sativa oil (NSO) contains 50% thymoquinone and has been used in the treatment of various nervous system disorders.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted between February and September 2020. Blood glucose, along with other relevant laboratory investigations, was measured for each patient upon admission to the EPU using a point-of-care test glucometer (ACCU-CHEK with strips).
Introduction: Spontaneous rupture of the pathological malarial spleen (SRPMS) is a rare condition with a mortality rate among travelers of approximately 38 %, whereas it was around 10 % for local citizens. The mortality rate for overwhelming post-splenectomy sepsis was reported to be about 50 %.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted from febraury2022 to July 2022.
Background/objectives: Cerebral palsy (CP) affects a substantial number of children, particularly in low- and middle-income countries such as Bangladesh. Maternal health literacy is critical to the health and well-being of children with CP, particularly in low-resource settings. In this study, we sought to assess how the mPower (mother's power) community-based intervention impacted mothers' CP-specific knowledge, as well as their utilization of rehabilitation services in rural Bangladesh.

Since approximately half of all patients in the UK diagnosed with oesophagogastric (OG) cancer are over 75 years of age, assessment of frailty may be important in selection for surgery.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective cohort study applied the Hospital Frailty Risk Score to data obtained from the NHS Secondary Uses Service electronic database for patients aged 75 years or older undergoing oesophagectomy and gastrectomy between April 2017 and March 2020.
Non-classical MHC class I genes which, compared to classical MHC class I, are typically less polymorphic and have more restricted expression patterns are attracting interest because of their potential to regulate immune responses to various pathogens. In salmonids, among the numerous non-classical MHC class I genes identified to date, L lineage genes, including Sasa- and , are differentially induced in response to microbial challenges. In the present study, we show that while transcription of both and are induced in response to SAV3 infection the transcriptional induction patterns are distinct for each gene.

The nutritional status of fathers plays a significant role in influencing the growth, metabolism, and susceptibility to diseases in their offspring. Paternal zinc deficiency can lead to developmental programming effects on the offspring's zinc homeostasis. This study investigated the effects of paternal zinc deficiency on the zinc homeostasis of offspring in a Drosophila melanogaster (fruit fly) model.

Disentangling the contributions from fluctuations in the nuclear overlap size (geometrical component) and other sources at a fixed size (intrinsic component) remains a challenge. This problem is addressed by measuring the mean, variance, and skewness of P([p_{T}]) in ^{208}Pb+^{208}Pb and ^{129}Xe+^{129}Xe collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.

Biopsies of CLM were performed before and after microwave ablation (MWA), as part of a prospective clinical trial between October 2013 and May 2019. Pre-ablation biopsy slides were examined for the Ki-67 LI using light microscopy.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections have gained attention as a potential treatment due to their regenerative properties. However, variability in PRP preparation methods and insufficient standardisation in the literature complicate the evaluation of its efficacy and reproducibility.

They play critical roles in diverse biological processes such as extracellular nucleotide homeostasis, transport of molecules across membranes, intracellular signaling pathways, or vertebrate mineralization. Among them, tissue-nonspecific alkaline phosphatase (TNAP) is today increasingly studied, due to its ubiquitous expression and its ability to dephosphorylate a very broad range of substrates and participate in several different biological functions.

Therefore, the precursor 2,2'-(1,4-phenylenebis (thiazole-4,2-diyl))bis (3-(dimethylamino)acrylonitrile) was used to synthesize various azolopyrimidine derivatives connected to the thiazole moiety. Compounds -, including pyrazolopyrimidine, triazolopyrimidine, and others, were produced by reacting enaminonitrile with different -nucleophiles.

In this study, we report conformational measurements of N protein at different pH by observing transition in secondary and tertiary structural contents by biophysical and computational approaches. Spectroscopic measurements revealed that N protein loses its secondary and tertiary structure at extreme acidic pH while maintaining its native conformation at mild acidic and alkaline pH.

Background: The postpartum period is associated with an increased risk of maternal mental disorders. The combined effect of having the mother's infant admitted to a tertiary hospital in a low-resource setting and the need to exclusively breastfeed the infant may exaggerate this risk. This study aimed to determine the breastfeeding support provided to mothers whose infants were hospitalised in Nigerian tertiary hospital nurseries and the prevalence of common mental health disorders among this population.

The present study aimed to assess their knowledge, perceptions, and willingness to use telepharmacy services in Riyadh. The present study was a cross-sectional survey conducted between March 2024 and June 2024.

Rosiridin is a monoterpene with outstanding monoamine inhibitory activity that is useful to treat depressive episodes and rapid-onset dementia. The current investigation aims to evaluate the neurologically protective impact of rosiridin, which opposes aluminum chloride (AlCl) and causes memory dysfunction in rats. Memory impairment was developed in Wistar rats by administering AlCl (100 mg/kg p.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive movement disorder associated with brain iron (Fe) accumulation and free radicals. Brown rice (BR) is antioxidant-rich and has been shown to ameliorate oxidative stress-induced damage. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of BR compared to white rice (WR) on Fe-induced PD in a fruit fly model.
