Background: Approximately 10% of the cases with primary hyperoxaluria type I present before age 1 and are usually classified as neonatal primary oxaluria.
Case Reports: Four unrelated infants, aged 3 to 9 months, were admitted for severe renal failure due to primary hyperoxaluria type I. Other affected members were known in two of these four families but the disease was not present at the same age in each family.

This investigation seeks to determine whether surfactants or detergents can be used to clean and disinfect orthopaedic wounds with implanted hardware. Thus, a stepwise investigation of biocompatible surfactants and detergents was performed to identify an irrigation agent for disinfecting orthopaedic wounds. Bacterial adhesions assays, irrigation studies, and bactericidal assays determined that benzalkonium chloride showed the greatest efficacy.

After adding hexadecyltrimethylammonium chloride, the ions pairs formed with the iodide in the sample are extracted using an organic solvent. The solvent is then evaporated and the dry residue obtained is mixed with an appropriate volume of mobile phase so as to concentrate the sample prior to injection into the chromatograph.

Population And Methods: Thirty full term infants, exclusively breast-fed during the first month of life, were included in this study.

To determine the rate of healing of the osteotomy, we studied the cases of 10 patients who had transverse osteotomy of the olecranon for surgical exposure of a complex distal humerus fracture. The average age of the patients was 48 years, and the average follow-up was 24 months. Nine of the fractures were complex supracondylar/intercondylar fractures.

In 1975, Dobrin reported a new syndrome in two children presenting acute interstitial nephritis, anterior uveitis and marrow-lymph node granulomas. We report one case of this association in the adult.

The distribution of snRNPs in the nucleus and cytoplasm of germ cells was quantitated in an attempt to correlate RNA processing with morphological and functional changes occurring during the development of these cells. Light-microscopic immunoperoxidase staining of rat testes with polyclonal anti-Sm and monoclonal anti-Y12 antibodies localized spliceosome snRNPs in the nuclei and cytoplasm of germ cells up to step 10 spermatids.

We did a retrospective analysis of 28 patients who were treated with the Orthofix external fixation system for complex fractures of the distal radius to study complications associated with screw size. The 14 patients in group 1 had a 4.5/3.

It was compared to a control group of 7,468 subjects who were obtained from an epidemiologic study performed in the same area at the same period. The prevalence of hypertension was 42%.

Eighty-three of these patients with redness, warmth, and edema compatible with clinical "inflammatory breast cancer" served as the focus for our analysis of factors associated with improved survival. The stage-specific disease-free intervals (DFI) of 36 and 21 months were substantially longer than in the earlier series (26 and 16 months) from the same institution.

The former died 3 years after the onset of the glomerulonephritis and the latter is still alive. The familial nature of the disease is an argument to strengthen the concept that genetic factors are involved in its origin.

The limit of detection (signal-to-noise ratio of 3) was 15 ng/L for trans-phylloquinone, 30 ng/L for K-2,3-epoxide. The trans-phylloquinone concentrations measured by this method in serum from 82 children, ages one to six years, whose results were normal for overall coagulation tests, ranged from 40 to 880 ng/L (median 175 ng/L).

It is already known that low birth weight (LBW) underlies the majority of infant deaths. It is also associated with an increased risk of permanent disability such as cerebral palsy, learning difficulties, and mental retardation of various degrees in survivors.
