Herein we report two processes facilitated by diisopropylethylamine (DIPEA) for the synthesis of novel bridged polycyclic molecule analogues to natural products. The use of 4-bromoisochroman-3-one initiated an autoxidation reaction, followed by a Diels-Alder cycloaddition in the presence of electron-deficient dienophiles. Mechanistic studies revealed isochromane-3,4-dione as a key intermediate, which undergoes in situ dienolization/dearomatization followed by a [4 + 2] cycloaddition.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), one of the most common endocrine disorders in reproductive-aged women, is associated with metabolic disturbances. The present study aimed to examine changes in body weight (BW) and glucose and insulin tolerance in a prenatally-androgenized (PNA) rat model of PCOS compared to control with increasing age. Methods: We used the EUROCARE-6 database (108 cancer registries; 29 EU countries), calculating incidence rates (IR) per 100,000 individuals/year in the European population (years of diagnosis: 2006-2013), 5-year relative survival (RS), and 5-year RS conditional to surviving the first year after diagnosis, for the follow-up period 2010-2014 (cases diagnosed in 2006-2013).

Asphalt-related emissions pose significant health risks due to the release of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that affect both workers in construction and the general public. Even at low concentrations, certain VOCs are highly toxic, with some of their metabolic byproducts, such as epoxides, known to cause DNA damage, oxidative stress, and other genetic alterations. The health implications are particularly concerning given that these emissions are persistent, and exposure can occur over prolonged periods, especially in urban areas where asphalt is prevalent.

This work develops the first laser-induced graphene (LIG)-based electrochemical sensor with a superhydrophobic fluorous membrane for a flexible acetylcholine (ACh) sensor. ACh regulates several physiological functions, including synaptic transmission and glandular secretion. The ACh sensing membrane is doped with a fluorophilic cation-exchanger that can selectively measure ACh based on the inherent selectivity of the fluorous phase for hydrophobic ions, such as ACh.
