Psychological well-being, food insecurity, academic performance and other risk factors in a sample of university students in Jordan during COVID-19.

This research validated an Arabic version of the Psychological General Well-being Index-Short version (PGWB-S) and examined the relationship between perceived psychological well-being, and food insecurity, academic achievement, and other risk factors in a sample of university students in Amman, Jordan, during COVID-19. A cross-sectional study was conducted in two phases. Phase 1 translated and validated the Arabic copy of the PGWB-S in 122 students from the University of Jordan.

Introduction: Selective fetal growth restriction (sFGR) in monochorionic twin pregnancy, defined as an estimated fetal weight (EFW) of one twin <10th centile and EFW discordance ≥25%, is associated with stillbirth and neurodisability for both twins. The condition poses unique management difficulties: on the one hand, continuation of the pregnancy carries a risk of death of the smaller twin, with a high risk of co-twin demise (40%) or co-twin neurological sequelae (30%). On the other, early delivery to prevent the death of the smaller twin may expose the larger twin to prematurity, with the associated risks of long-term physical, emotional and financial costs from neurodisability, such as cerebral palsy.

Epidemiology of early infections and predictors of mortality after autologous hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation among multiple myeloma, Hodgkin, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma: the first experience from Palestine.

Background: Autologous hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (HSCT) is the standard of care in many relapsed and refractory lymphoid malignancy, neuroblastoma, and multiple myeloma (MM). This study was conducted to describe the epidemiology of early infections that occurred within the first 100 days among patients who received HSCT for MM, Hodgkin (HL), and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) in Palestine.

Methods: This study was conducted in a retrospective cohort design in the only autologous HSCT in Palestine in the period between 2014 and 2021.

Antithrombotic Therapy after Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement.

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a treatment option for patients with asymptomatic severe aortic stenosis who are candidates for a bioprosthesis across the entire spectrum of risk. TAVR carries a risk for thrombotic and bleeding events, focusing on the importance of defining the optimal antithrombotic regimen. Patients undergoing TAVR are mostly elderly and have many comorbidities such as atrial fibrillation (AF) requiring oral anticoagulants (OACs) or coronary artery disease requiring antiplatelet agents.

Selective prophylactic solvent-detergent plasma and cryoprecipitate transfusion to prevent intraventricular hemorrhage in extreme preterm infants: A case-historical control.

Background: Contradictory evidence exists whether a prophylactic coagulation factor transfusion in the first hours of life (HOL) prevents intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) in extreme preterm infants (EPI, <28 weeks gestation). We aimed to determine whether selective prophylactic solvent-detergent plasma and cryoprecipitate transfusion within 12 hours of life (SP-SDP/Cryoprecipitate-T) could prevent IVH in EPI.

Method: This is a retrospective analysis, case-historical control, of prospectively collected data from a pre-existing electronic neonatal database at a Saudi tertiary neonatal intensive care unit.

Impact of food pantry donations on diet of a low-income population.

This cross-sectional study assessed the effect of food donations on total nutrient intake of clients of a food pantry in Central Texas. Nutrient intakes of total, base and food donation diets were estimated for 112 food pantry recipients using specific questionnaires; and then compared to the dietary reference intakes (DRI) and 2015-2020 US Dietary Guidelines. Food donations accounted for more than half of the client's daily intake of energy, carbohydrates, vitamin B, phosphorus, copper and selenium.

Disruption of cardiovascular circadian rhythms in mice post myocardial infarction: relationship with central angiotensin II receptor expression.

Angiotensin II (Ang II) is well known to participate in the abnormal autonomic cardiovascular control that occurs during the development of chronic heart failure (CHF).
