Although the Child and Adolescent Behavior Inventory (CABI) cognitive disengagement syndrome (CDS) scale has demonstrated validity relative to the CABI attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder-inattention (ADHD-IN) scale with parent ratings of youth from North America, Europe, East Asia, and Central Asia, no study has evaluated the validity of the 15 symptom CDS scale with children from South America. Our purpose was to examine for the first time the validity of the CABI CDS scale with Brazilian children. Latent variable modeling procedures were used to examine the validity of CDS scores.

Purpose: To evaluate the effects of an intradialytic aerobic exercise training program on the expression of transcription factors nuclear factor κappa B (NF-κB) and nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), related to inflammatory and antioxidant pathways, respectively, in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) on hemodialysis.
Methods: This was a longitudinal, randomized clinical trial with a washout period and crossover performed with 33 patients randomized into two groups: Exercise (individualized intradialytic aerobic exercise on an adapted stationary exercise bike) three times per week for three months and control (without exercise). After the washout period (1 month), the exercise group became the control, and the other group performed the exercises for another three months.
Bacterial resistance in is a significant public health challenge, as these bacteria can evade multiple antibiotics, leading to difficult-to-treat infections with high mortality rates. As part of the search for alternatives, essential oils from medicinal plants have shown promising antibacterial potential due to their diverse chemical constituents. This study evaluated the antibacterial, antibiofilm, and synergistic activities of the essential oil of (EOLo) and its main constituents against multidrug-resistant clinical isolates of .

Additionally, it investigated the effect of pH on the release of paraquat (PQ) and difenzoquat (DFZ) herbicides. Similar to previous studies with hydrogels containing CMC, the presence of bi and trivalent salts, such as Ca and Al, also drastically reduced their swelling degree from 6.

Objective: To analyze the influence of the strategies to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic, implemented by the Public Health Network of the State of Piauí, Brazil, as contributions to nursing, on the outcome of cases and deaths.
Adipose tissue dysfunction influences the development of dyslipidemias associated with obesity, however, the mechanisms are still unclear. In this sense, the literature highlights the role of copper in cholesterol synthesis, contributing to the increase in concentrations of this lipid fraction and consequently to the manifestation of dyslipidemia. The objective of the study was to investigate the relationship between copper parameters and lipid profile markers in women with obesity.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the copper nutritional status and its relationship with parameters of glycemic control in women with obesity. An observational case-control clinical study involving 203 women aged between 20 and 50 years, divided into two groups: obese (n = 84) and eutrophic (n = 119).

Introduction: Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is one of the most debilitating diseases worldwide and has seen a significant increase in diagnoses during the pandemic, demanding more and better therapeutic tools to manage the post-pandemic scenario.
Objective: The aim of this systematic review is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the last 20 years of clinical research on Hypnotherapy (HT) to determine whether this intervention has evidence to support its recommendation for the treatment of MDD.
Methods: This review included only randomized clinical trials (RCTs) involving adult populations diagnosed with MDD, regardless of the severity level (mild, moderate, or severe) according to any validated diagnostic criteria, compared to a control group (active treatment or none), with any follow-up duration and free access to the manuscript.
The environment where bee colonies are inserted must provide the necessary resources for their survival. Given this, any biotic and abiotic changes in the environment can affect the development and survival of the colonies. We evaluated the foraging activity of Plebeia droryana (Friese), Scaptotrigona bipunctata (Lepetelier), and Melipona quadrifasciata (Lepetelier) in areas with different land uses and land cover.

Genotypes of ('Bordô' and 'Isabel') and Brazilian hybrids ('IAC 138-22 Máximo' and 'BRS Violeta') were grafted onto the rootstock 'IAC 766 Campinas' (106-8 'Mgt' × ) and trained on low and high trellis. After harvest, the grapes were destemmed and the berries macerated in a roller crusher.

The current modelling framework assumes each fluid present in the subsurface flows in its own continuously connected pathway. The restriction in flow caused by the presence of another fluid is modelled using relative permeability functions.

The synthetic cardiotonic steroid γ-Benzylidene Digoxin 8 (BD-8) is emerging as a promising immunomodulatory molecule, although it has remained largely unexplored. Therefore, we tested the immunomodulatory potential of BD-8 both in vitro and in vivo.

The measure of OHRQoL represents a holistic approach for research and clinical practice. Negative impacts of oral conditions on OHRQoL in childhood can reflect on health development, especially in a life stage marked by social and cognitive maturation.

Primary healthcare (PHC) stands as a strategic setting for the early identification and management of these mental disorders, given its role as the primary care environment for health service users. This scoping review has the objective of mapping and assessing screening instruments validated for mental disorders that are applicable in PHC, particularly regarding their measurement properties.

Recently, germline mutations in DNA repair-related genes have been reported in cases with thyroid cancer. In order to clarify the genetic basis of FNMTC, 94 genes involved in hereditary cancer predisposition, including DNA repair genes, were analyzed in 48 probands from FNMTC families, through targeted next-generation sequencing (NGS).

Background: Vectorial transmission through hematophagous triatomine insects remains the primary mode of Chagas Disease contagion. These insects have become increasingly common in urban environments. Therefore, this study aimed to report an encounter of triatomines with trypanosomatid infection in a vertical residential condominium in Rio Branco, the capital of the state of Acre, in the western Brazilian Amazon.

Most of the coastal biodiversity is endangered, taking a particular toll on island ecosystems, like the Azores. To better understand the biotic and abiotic factors constraining the distribution and conservation status of two endemic plants, Azorina vidalii (Campanulaceae) and Lotus azoricus (Fabaceae), we performed a global survey of coastal plant communities in the archipelago, also covering environmental descriptors, natural and anthropogenic threats.

Background: This study aimed to determine the prevalence and factors associated with susceptibility to hepatitis B virus (HBV) among cisgender men who have sex with men (MSM) on HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in Northeastern Brazil.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional, analytical study conducted between September 2021 and June 2023. Participants underwent structured interviews to collect sociodemographic and clinical information, including hepatitis B vaccination history, HIV PrEP use and sexual health history.
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared an international state of emergency in order to contain the rapid spread of COVID-19. To ensure that there is adherence to preventive measures by the population aimed at controlling the pandemic in Alagoas, it is expected that knowledge, behavior and practices play an important role in preventing and controlling the disease. In this sense, it becomes relevant to understand the knowledge of the population about the disease.

Genome-scale analyses revealed that monkey SCNT embryos displayed widespread DNA methylation and transcriptional alterations, thus including loss of genomic imprinting that correlated with placental dysfunction. The transfer of inner cell masses (ICM) from cloned blastocysts into ICM-depleted fertilized embryos rescued placental insufficiency and gave rise to a cloned Rhesus monkey that reached adulthood without noticeable abnormalities.
