Site-selective activation of a particular remote C-H bond in molecules with multiple C-H bonds remains challenging in organic synthesis. In addition, evolving such transformations via the utilization of unconventional techniques is highly desirable. We demonstrated hitherto unexplored double bond geometry-guided and end-on nitrile-template-assisted -C-H functionalization of indene enoate esters under microwave-accelerated conditions.

Herein, we report the -C-H olefination of arylmethanesulfonates aided by a potentially versatile aliphatic nitrile-directing group under microwave irradiation conditions with fair to very good yields and good to outstanding regioselectivities. Significantly, the protocol showed broad substrate scope including olefin-derived drugs and cyclic olefins. Remarkably, a dual -C-H bond was amenable to generating the bis-olefination products.

Herein, we report the first microwave-assisted remote-C-H functionalization aided by a simple nitrile directing template. Notably, the present protocol showed a broad substrate scope enabling -C-H arylation, acetoxylation, and cyanation. Significantly, the microwave-accelerated -C-H functionalization was effective with short reaction times without compromising yields and site selectivity.

Article Synopsis
  • Leukodystrophies and genetic leukoencephalopathies are neurodegenerative disorders affecting brain white matter, presenting a diagnostic challenge due to varying symptoms and age of onset, such as cognitive and movement issues.
  • A treatable cause of these conditions is hyperhomocystinemia resulting from MTHFR deficiency, detectable through elevated serum homocysteine levels.
  • A case study highlights a 16-year-old male diagnosed with MTHFR deficiency, whose treatment with betaine led to significant improvements in symptoms and a decrease in homocysteine levels.

Oxidative stress (OS) and reactive oxygen species (ROS) are one of the main reasons for the multifactorial concern - male infertility. ROS are active components of cellular metabolism that are intrinsic to cellular functioning and are present at minimal and unreactive levels in normal cells. They are an integral component of the sperm developmental physiology, capacitation, and function.

Background And Aims: The Airtraq DL ™ is a prototype channeled video laryngoscope, designed specifically for endobronchial intubation with a double-lumen tube (DLT). Evidence on its superiority over Macintosh laryngoscope for DLT placement in the difficult airway is limited. This study compared the efficacy of both these laryngoscopes in the simulated difficult airway.

Primary microcephaly (MCPH) is a rare neurogenic disorder with most cases being inherited in an autosomal recessive pattern. The present report is of a case of second gravid patient with recurrent fetal microcephaly with agenesis of corpus callosum, cerebellar hypoplasia and ventriculomegaly. Maternal TORCH profile and amniotic fluid chromosomal microarray were normal.

The present study was carried out to determine the prevalence of bovine sarcocystosis and identify the different species of cysts in cattle in different regions of Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh. A total of 150 slaughtered cattle over a period of 1 year were examined both macroscopically and microscopically for the presence of infection. Out of 150 slaughtered cattle examined, macroscopic sarcocysts were observed in nine cattle and were exclusively found in oesophagus.

The study aims at formulation and characterization of three months parenteral risperidone loaded polymeric microspheres (p-RLPMs) as a sustained delivery system and established their in vitro and in vivo assessments. The p-RLPMs formulations were prepared by solvent extraction and diffusion method. The optimized p-RLPMs (batch R-1) formulation demonstrated favorable different physicochemical properties such as mean particle size (104±5.

The starch was isolated from jackfruit seeds and evaluated for its preformulation properties, like tapped density, bulk density, and particle size. The fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analysis was done and compared with that of the commercially available starch which confirmed the properties. Using the various concentrations of jackfruit seed starch, the microspheres were prepared, combining with gelatin by ionotropic gelation technique.
