The primary cilium, a single microtubule-based organelle protruding from the cell surface and critical for neural development, also functions in adult neurons. While some dorsal root ganglion neurons elaborate a primary cilium, whether it is expressed by and functional in nociceptors is unknown. Recent studies have shown the role of Hedgehog, whose canonical signaling is primary cilium dependent, in nociceptor sensitization.

However, the context of the local area and surrounding landscape may affect the attractiveness of these floral resource provisioning plots. We compared the relative effects of local floral resources and surrounding urban land-use on the abundance of bees on flowering plants in common gardens in eastern Tennessee, USA.

Objectives: Multimorbidity, known as multiple chronic conditions (MCC), is the coexistence of two or more chronic health conditions (CHC). The near-retirement-age population with MCC is more likely to experience discontinued labor force participation (LFP). Our objective was to evaluate the impact of MCC on LFP among adults aged 50-64 and to explore heterogeneous effects between self-employed and non-self-employed workers.

Materials And Methods: Institutional review board (IRB) exemption was granted for this retrospective study. The charts of 120 consecutive patients who underwent mechanical thromboembolectomy using the Flowtriever system (Inari Medical, Irvine, California) between February 2020 and August 2022 were retrospectively reviewed, and the following data were collected: (a) preprocedural B-type natriuretic peptide and creatinine levels, (b) echocardiographic findings, (c) preprocedural and postprocedural pulmonary artery pressures, (d) ICU length of stay, and (e) 30-day mortality.
Aim: To describe key features of a co-designed nurse-led model of care intended to improve access to early medication abortion and long-acting reversible contraception in rural Australian general practice.
Design: Co-design methodology informed by the Experience-Based Co-Design Framework.
Methods: Consumers, nurses, physicians and key women's health stakeholders participated in a co-design workshop focused on the patient journey in seeking contraception or abortion care.
Introduction: The purpose of this study was to identify predictors of anatomy final course grades from first-year physical therapist students' characteristics and chosen learning strategies, as indicated on the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ). Identifying factors that contribute to success in content intensive classes may aid in coaching successful learning strategies as students transition from undergraduate coursework to Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs.
Review Of Literature: Previous studies show that first-year graduate students use ineffective learning strategies that are insufficient for graduate-level study.
Aim: To synthesise and map current evidence on nurse and midwife involvement in task-sharing service delivery, including both face-to-face and telehealth models, in primary care.
Design: This scoping review was informed by the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Methodology for Scoping Reviews.
Data Source/review Methods: Five databases (Ovid MEDLINE, Embase, PubMed, CINAHL and Cochrane Library) were searched from inception to 16 January 2024, and articles were screened for inclusion in Covidence by three authors.
Human liver microsomes containing various drug-metabolizing cytochrome P450 (P450) enzymes, along with their NADPH-reductase bound to phospholipid membranes, were absorbed onto 1-pyrene butylamine pi-pi stacked with amine-functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotube-modified graphite electrodes. The interfaced microsomal biofilm demonstrated direct electrochemical communication with the underlying electrode surface and enhanced oxygen reduction electrocatalytic activity typical of heme enzymes such as P450s over the unmodified electrodes and nonenzymatic currents. Similar enhancements in currents were observed when the bioelectrodes were constructed with recombinant P450 2C9 (single isoform) expressed bactosomes.

Fresh, molecular-grade material was obtained for all Nearctic Androprosopa species except two Mexican species, An. sonorensis (Arnaud & Boussy) and An.

Nurse-led models of care can improve access to these services but have not been evaluated in Australian general practice. The primary aim of the ORIENT trial (ImprOving Rural and regIonal accEss to long acting reversible contraceptioN and medical abortion through nurse-led models of care, Tasksharing and telehealth) is to assess the effectiveness of a nurse-led model of care in general practice at increasing uptake of LARC and improving access to medical abortion in rural and regional areas.

To reduce the risk of future adverse outcomes, the interconception period is an opportunity to implement positive health changes. The aim of this scoping review was to explore women's needs for lifestyle risk reduction engagement during the interconception period.

Setting: Nurse-led task-sharing models of care for provision of long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) and early medical abortion (EMA) are one strategy to reduce barriers and improve access to services but have yet to be developed in general practice.
Key Measures For Improvement: Through a co-design process, we will develop a nurse-led model of care for LARC and EMA provision that can be delivered through face-to-face consultations or via telehealth in rural general practice in Australia.
Background: There is a dearth of research about occupational health and safety experience in Indigenous communities and compensation applications from Indigenous workers appear limited.
Objective: This qualitative descriptive study was designed to explore workers' compensation experiences in some Canadian Indigenous communities.
Methods: A community-based participatory research approach was used to conduct focus groups (n = 25 participants) in three Northeastern Ontario (NEO) Indigenous communities and at one NEO Indigenous employment centre.
A 22-year-old Hispanic immigrant presented to the emergency department after having a witnessed seizure. The patient was born and raised in Columbia and had a history of ventricular septal defect repair at the age of five years. Computer tomography (CT) of brain showed an unusual demonstration -"heterotopia of gray matter"- and the follow-up magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed absence of splenium part of corpus callosum.

With many treatment options for abnormal pain, such as opioid analgesics, carrying numerous deleterious side effects, research into safer and more effective treatment options is crucial. To help elucidate the mechanisms controlling nociceptive sensitivity, the larval nociception model has been used to characterize well-conserved pathways through the use of genetic modification and/or injury to alter the sensitivity of experimental animals.

Purpose: The availability of validated biomarkers to assess radiation exposure and to assist in developing medical countermeasures remains an unmet need.
Methods And Materials: We used a cobalt-60 γ-irradiated nonhuman primate (NHP) model to delineate a multiomics-based serum probability index of radiation exposure. Both male and female NHPs were irradiated with different doses ranging from 6.
Background: Ensuring equitable access to health care is reliant on the strengthening of primary care services. Increasing the utilisation of task-sharing and telehealth models is one strategy to improve patient access and outcomes in primary care. This protocol details the methodology of a proposed scoping review of nurse and midwife involvement in task-sharing and telehealth models in primary care.

Although the role of epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT), mediated by transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ), in imparting an aggressive phenotype to PDAC is well documented, the underlying biochemical pathway perturbations driving this behaviour have not been elucidated. We used high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) based molecular phenotyping approach in order to delineate metabolic changes concomitant to TGFβ-induced EMT in pancreatic cancer cells.

Reproductive coercion and abuse includes any form of behaviour that intentionally controls another person's reproductive choices. The aim of this qualitative evidence synthesis is to explore women's experiences of reproductive coercion and abuse globally, to broaden understanding of the different ways reproductive coercion and abuse is perpetrated, perceived and experienced across settings and socio-cultural contexts.

Introduction: The frequency of hip fractures, a major cause of morbidity and mortality for geriatric patients, is expected to increase exponentially in the next few decades. The aim of this study is to assess the ability of stainless-steel cannulated screws to reduce the risk of a femoral neck fracture, if placed prophylactically prior to a fall.
Materials And Methods: We created finite element models from computed tomography (CT) scan-based 3D models of a geriatric patient through 3D-image processing and model generation software.
