Introduction: Clear evidence for the best clinical management of uveal melanoma is lacking in some areas. Therefore, reports on expert opinions in the field can be valuable.

Methods: A questionnaire comprising 10 questions was distributed to potential participants of the 58th Ophthalmic Oncology Group Meeting in Stockholm, Sweden, in June 2024.

Cilia exhibit several tubulin PTMs, such as polyglutamylation, polyglycylation, detyrosination, and acetylation, with functions that are not fully understood. Mutations in AGBL5, which encodes the deglutamylating enzyme CCP5, have been linked to retinitis pigmentosa, suggesting that altered polyglutamylation may cause photoreceptor cell degeneration, though the underlying mechanisms are unclear.

Since April 2019, CA Bridge has worked with emergency departments (EDs) in diverse geographic and emergency care settings across California to scale up low-threshold buprenorphine access, patient navigation programs, harm reduction services, and take-home naloxone. Between April 2019 and June 2023, 268 (81.0%) of 331 acute care hospitals in California received funding and technical assistance from CA Bridge and completed data reporting.

Predictors of Speech-in-Noise Understanding in a Population of Occupationally Noise-Exposed Individuals.

Understanding speech in noise is particularly difficult for individuals occupationally exposed to noise due to a mix of noise-induced auditory lesions and the energetic masking of speech signals. For years, the monitoring of conventional audiometric thresholds has been the usual method to check and preserve auditory function. Recently, suprathreshold deficits, notably, difficulties in understanding speech in noise, has pointed out the need for new monitoring tools.

The Pediatric and Young Adult Choroidal and Ciliary Body Melanoma Genetic Study, A Survey by the European Ophthalmic Oncology Group.

Purpose: To explore the genetic background of choroidal and ciliary body melanoma among children and young adults, with special focus on BAP1 germline variants in this age group.

Methods: Patients under the age of 25 and with confirmed choroidal or ciliary body melanoma were included in this retrospective, multicenter observational study. Nuclear BAP1 immunopositivity was used to evaluate the presence of functional BAP1 in the tumor.

Leprosy mimicking autoimmune diseases: a case series.

Objectives: Leprosy is a chronic granulomatous disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae. Less frequently, there is involvement of the musculoskeletal system, and occurrence of systemic manifestation with non-specific symptoms such as fever, fatigue and myalgia. Therefore, leprosy can often mimic autoimmune diseases such as arthritis, vasculitis, or collagenosis and be mis-diagnosed.

Background: Retinoblastoma (rb) is the most frequent intraocular tumor, accounting for 3% of all childhood cancers. Heritable rb survivors are germline carriers for an RB1 mutation and have a lifelong risk to develop non-ocular second primary tumors (SPTs) involving multiple other organs like the bones, soft tissues, or skin. Importance: Although substantial evidence supports buprenorphine for treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD) in controlled trials, prospective study of patient outcomes in clinical implementation of emergency department (ED) buprenorphine treatment is lacking.

Objective: To examine the association between buprenorphine treatment in the ED and follow-up engagement in OUD treatment 1 month later.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This multisite cohort study was conducted in 7 California EDs participating in a statewide implementation project to improve access to buprenorphine treatment.

Tick-borne diseases have a significant impact on human and animal populations, posing an increasing threat to public health, particularly in the context of climate change. Along with the various natural hosts of ticks, birds play a notable role in transmitting ticks and tick-borne pathogens, indicating the importance of monitoring flyways and establishing a cooperative network for comprehensive surveillance and to collect diverse tick samples across various regions. This study aimed to develop an international network for surveillance of disease, collection of sufficient tick samples, and overall identification of the geographical distribution of host and ticks in Asian regions, especially in 11 countries on East Asian and Central Asian flyways.

A Multicenter Study Validates the WHO 2022 Classification for Conjunctival Melanocytic Intraepithelial Lesions With Clinical and Prognostic Relevance.

Several nomenclature and grading systems have been proposed for conjunctival melanocytic intraepithelial lesions (C-MIL). The fourth "WHO Classification of Eye Tumors" (WHO-EYE04) proposed a C-MIL classification, capturing the progression of noninvasive neoplastic melanocytes from low- to high-grade lesions, onto melanoma in situ (MIS), and then to invasive melanoma. This proposal was revised to the WHO-EYE05 C-MIL system, which simplified the high-grade C-MIL, whereby MIS was subsumed into high-grade C-MIL.

Stigma Against Patients With Substance Use Disorders Among Health Care Professionals and Trainees and Stigma-Reducing Interventions: A Systematic Review.

Purpose: In this systematic review, the authors examine the prevalence and extent of stigmatizing attitudes among health care professionals (HCPs) and trainees against patients with substance use disorders (SUDs), including research on interventions to reduce stigma.

Method: The authors searched 7 databases for articles published from January 1, 2011, through February 15, 2023, that quantified SUD stigma among HCPs or trainees. Inclusion criteria allowed both observational and intervention studies from the United States or Canada to be included in this review.

Objective: Executive impairments are frequent and may concern a large spectrum of health conditions throughout life. Given the complexity of the executive functions, their assessment requires the administration of multiple tests. There is only one source of French-language normative data for seven traditional executive tests for adults under age 50.

Translational screening platform to evaluate chemotherapy in combination with focal therapy for retinoblastoma.

Retinoblastoma is the most common pediatric eye cancer. It is currently treated with a limited number of drugs, adapted from other pediatric cancer treatments. Drug toxicity and relapse of the disease warrant new therapeutic strategies for these young patients.
