Multifocal nodular hepatic steatosis (MFNHS) is a rare benign clinical entity mimicking metastatic disease. This study is designed to describe the imaging and histopathologic findings and clinical course of patients with MFNHS. In this retrospective study during 2005 and 2023, 10 patients with an imaging and pathologic diagnosis of MFNHS were included.

Background: Our institution created a nightly "Huddle" email for all staff involved in patient care, detailing the next day's cases. This study evaluated the impact of the Huddle email on perioperative efficiency and identified factors associated with operating room delays.

Methods: A total of 1080 first start, open, nonemergent cardiac operations were stratified as Pre-Huddle (January 2013-June 2015) or Huddle (July 2015-January 2017).

Background: Intensive care units (ICUs) function frequently at capacity, requiring incoming critically ill patients to be placed in alternate geographically distinct ICUs. In some medical ICU populations, "boarding" in an overflow ICU has been associated with increased mortality. We hypothesized that surgical ICU patients experience more complications when boarding in an overflow ICU and that the frequency of these complications are greatest in boarders farthest from the home unit (HU).

Background: Senegal introduced routine infant Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) conjugate vaccine during 2005.

Methods: We evaluated acute bacterial meningitis surveillance data among children 0 to 59 months of age collected during January 2003 to September 2007 at the major pediatric referral hospital in the Dakar Region of Senegal. Hib vaccine effectiveness was assessed using a case-control design.
