Ninjurin-1 (NINJ1) is an active executioner of plasma membrane rupture (PMR), a process previously thought to be a passive osmotic lysis event in lytic cell death. Constructing organic fluorophosphines, vital drug skeletons, through the direct fluorination of readily available alkyl phosphonates has been impeded due to the intrinsic low electrophilicity of P and the high bond energy of P═O bond. Here, alkyl phosphonates are electrophilically activated with triflic anhydride and N-heteroaromatic bases, enabling nucleophilic fluorination at room temperature to form fluorophosphines via reactive phosphine intermediates. The low-cost daily monitoring of C-reactive protein (CRP) levels is crucial for screening acute inflammation or infections as well as managing chronic inflammatory diseases. In this study, we synthesized novel 2-Methacryloyloxy ethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC)-based biomimetic nanoparticles with a large surface area to develop a visual CRP-quantification assay using affordable glass capillaries.
