Objectives: This longitudinal text-mining study examines dental hygiene students' perceptions of dental hygienists and dentists at three different points in time during their training course. The null hypothesis of the study was that there would be no change in the dental hygiene students' perceptions of the dental hygienists and dentists over the course of 3 years.
Materials And Methods: First-year dental hygiene students participated in this study beginning with the academic year 2020.
Although ovarian cystic teratoma is the most common ovarian tumor, complications are quite rare. However, it is important to be recognized by the radiologist in order to avoid inaccurately diagnosing them as malignant lesions. This case report describes a 61-year-old postmenopausal woman, who presented to the emergency room with abdominal pain following a minor blunt abdominal trauma.

The main objective of this study was to clarify the background factors of sleep disorders that affect sleep duration, such as subjective symptoms and working hours.
Methods: We performed a cross-sectional study on the Japanese national statistics data.
Background: It is important to understand the career motivations and perceptions of students who intend to become dental health professionals. Both dental and dental hygiene students may have different opinions about the profession and future work prospects. To our knowledge, no study has compared the career motivations and career perceptions of Japanese dental and dental hygiene students after admission to dental or dental hygiene school.

High-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) is not considered absolutely necessary for the management of an uncomplicated cholesteatoma, but unsuspected situations from a clinical point of view can be discovered using the scans, warning the surgeon. Our objective is to compare HRCT scan information with intraoperative findings in patients with cholesteatoma and analyze the usefulness of a preoperative HRCT scan from a surgical point of view.

However, insufficient blockading induced by single-nucleotide polymorphisms in the C5 protein or frequent development of "breakthrough" intravascular hemolysis in patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria treated with eculizumab have been reported. Herein, we developed a lipid nanoparticle (LNP)-formulated siRNA targeting C5 that was efficiently delivered to the liver and silenced C5 expression.

He was diagnosed with colonic ileus and obstructive colitis due to a fecal impaction in the sigmoid-descending junction. During colonoscopy, a tapered catheter was repeatedly inserted into the impacted feces to inject a bowel-cleansing agent.

Methods: Anonymized data on 1315 children aged 6-14 years were obtained from a national survey questionnaire.
Oral disabilities occur due to tooth loss. This study aimed to investigate oral and systemic factors related to diet in elderly residents receiving domiciliary dental care. The subjects were 74 consenting residents.

Computed tomography revealed significant dilatation of the duodenum up to the level of the third portion, which was compressed by a large, low-density mass. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy showed narrowing of the third portion of the duodenum with edematous mucosa covered with multiple white spots, where the endoscope was able to pass through with mild resistance.

The aim of this study was to identify regional disparities in generic drug usage and to examine related factors. The database used for the analysis was the 2018 national health insurance claims data published on the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare. The drugs that were targeted were a combination of brand-name and generic tetracycline ointments for periodontal treatment and lidocaine injection solution used for dental anesthesia.

Twenty-six days after admission, he experienced hematemesis despite improvement in his respiratory symptoms. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography revealed edematous stomach wall thickening with neither ischemic findings in the gastric wall nor obstruction of the gastric artery.

In this research, we identified APOA4 as a novel pharmacodynamic (PD) marker of the recombinant human HGF (rh-HGF), E3112.
Methods: rh-HGF was administered to mice, and their livers were investigated for the PD marker.
Background: Chemosensitivity testing, including collagen gel droplet-embedded culture drug sensitivity test, has proven to be a useful tool in therapeutic decision-making. This retrospective analysis investigated chemosensitivity testing of peritoneal metastases collected during cytoreductive surgery (CRS), and its impact on survival in patients with colorectal cancer.
Methods: All patients with peritoneal metastasis from colorectal cancer who underwent CRS with or without hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) between November 2008 and October 2014 were included.
Background And Aims: Endoscopists and endoscopic assistants are easily exposed to germs, including COVID-19, during aerosol-generating procedures such as gastrointestinal endoscopy. This retrospective study investigated the utility of a box-shaped shielding device for reducing the risk of COVID-19 droplet infection during endoscopic procedures.
Methods: We created a cuboid box (500 × 650 × 450 mm) with four sides were covered with a transparent, vinyl-chloride sheet having two windows for endoscopic passage and assistance.
A woman in her 70s with systemic sclerosis experienced dyspnea, and consequently, she was diagnosed with an esophago-pleural fistula, which was caused by a perforated esophageal ulcer. We administered conservative treatments including continuous pleural drainage and total parenteral nutrition. The fistula was closed but recurred, at which point we attempted to close the fistula by filling and shielding using polyglycolic acid (PGA) sheets and fibrin glue (FG).

Patients with peritoneal metastasis (PM) of SRC have a poor prognosis, and this subtype is frequently considered as a contra-indication for extensive surgical treatment. This retrospective study from two dedicated peritoneal surface malignancy centers in Japan included all patients treated with CRS ± hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) between July 1994 and December 2017 from a prospectively maintained database.
