Neurovascular changes in prolonged migraine aura in FHM with a novel ATP1A2 gene mutation.

Objectives: To report cerebral blood flow changes during attacks of hemiplegic migraine with prolonged aura (HMPA) longer than 24 h in patients with familial hemiplegic migraine (FHM) with a novel gene mutation.

Methods: The authors performed serial neuroimaging studies during acute stage and after recovery of aura symptoms in eight HMPA attacks in two affected individuals of the Japanese family of FHM during a 10-year-observational period. The authors also performed a mutational analysis for all exons of the CACNA1A, ATP1A2 and SCN1A genes in three individuals of this family.

Moduli-induced gravitino problem.

We investigate the cosmological moduli problem by studying a modulus decay in detail and find that the branching ratio of the gravitino production is generically of O(0.01-1), which causes another cosmological disaster. Consequently, the cosmological moduli problem cannot be solved simply by making the modulus mass heavier than 100 TeV.

Evidence against strong correlation between chest symptoms and ischemic coronary changes after subcutaneous sumatriptan injection.

Objective: To evaluate the adverse events possibly caused by sumatriptan injection and explore the relationship between chest symptoms along with sumatriptan injection and coronary ischemia among Japanese patients with migraine.

Methods: A cumulative total of 112 subcutaneous injections in 62 patients were evaluated. ECG was continuously monitored before and until 5 minutes after injection on 92 occasions.
