Application of a collagen scaffold saturated with platelet-rich plasma in prevention of bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw in the rat animal model.

Background: Among the myriad adverse events of drugs in the oral cavity, Bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) is one of the most detrimental drug reactions that have ever been known.

Objective: This study was aimed to investigate the success of applying collagen scaffold alone and platelet-rich plasma (PRP)+collagen scaffold in prevention of zoledronic acid-induced BRONJ in the rat.

Methods: A total of 17 male Wistar-rats were treated with 4 weekly doses of zoledronic acid.

Investigation of the land subsidence and its consequences of large groundwater withdrawal in Rafsanjan, Iran.

Land subsidence is a phenomenon that involves the lowering or settling of the earth's surface due to various factors. The land subsidence due to groundwater withdrawal over the world has been seen in many areas. A decrease in ground water level would cause an increase in effective stresses at clay layers which results consolidation of lower layers.

Effect of transient hippocampal inhibition on amygdaloid kindled seizures and amygdaloid kindling rate.

In this study the effect of transient inhibition of the CA1 region of the dorsal hippocampus by lidocaine on amygdala kindling rate and amygdaloid kindled seizures was investigated. In experiment 1, rats were divided into four groups. In group 1, animals were implanted only with a tripolar electrode into the amygdala but in groups 2-4, two guide cannulae were also implanted into the CA1 regions of the dorsal hippocampi.
