Introduction: A freeze-dried, platelet-derived hemostatic agent (FPH) was developed for acute hemorrhage. The canine product (cFPH) was developed for use in preclinical models supporting human product (hFPH) investigations.
Materials And Methods: A carotid artery bypass graft (CABG) study in dogs compared 3 dosages of cFPH to canine liquid stored platelets (cLSP) and vehicle (VEH) control groups.
Rehabilitative and habilitative therapies can help children with disabilities increase independence and overall wellbeing. However, children and their caregivers face many barriers to accessing these therapies and often rely on the school for therapy access. Given the limited resources available within the special education system, increasing parent involvement in special education therapies could improve service delivery.

Thrombosomes, a trehalose-stabilized, leukoreduced, pooled blood group-O freeze-dried platelet-derived hemostatic (FPH) with a 3-year shelf-life, may satisfy this need.
Objectives: To characterize the mechanism of action of FPH.
Background: Hemorrhage accounts for the most preventable deaths after trauma. Resuscitation is guided by studies that demonstrate improved outcomes in patients receiving whole blood or balanced administration of blood products. Platelets present a logistical challenge due to short shelf life and need for refrigeration.

Much of the current research has been hampered by small nondiverse samples and limited information on key familial and offspring characteristics.
Objective: To characterize parental perceptions and concerns about internet use associated with adolescent development, well-being, safety, family connectedness, and potential for problematic internet use.
Importance: Screening youths for mental disorders may assist in prevention, promote early identification, and be associated with reduced related lifetime impairment and distress.
Objective: To assess parents' and caregivers' comfort with and preferences for pediatric mental health screening and factors associated with these preferences.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This survey study used an online survey available from July 11 to 14, 2021, through Prolific Academic.
Importance: Screening youth for mental disorders may assist in prevention, promote early identification, and reduce related lifetime impairment and distress.
Objective: The goal was to survey parents about their comfort and preferences for pediatric mental health screening, as well as factors associated with these preferences.
Design: The online survey was available July 11-14, 2021 on Prolific Academic.
Objectives: The objective was to compare primary hemostasis between adult ECMO patients and cardiac surgical patients before heparinization and cardiopulmonary bypass. Furthermore, the authors explored whether in vitro treatment of ECMO patient blood samples with recombinant von Willebrand Factor (vWF) or lyophilized platelets improved primary hemostasis in vitro.
Design: Prospective cohort study.
Background: Implementing the JCI Accreditation process as an organizational culture may face resistance. However, the skepticism and involvement of different hospital sectors (medical, nursing, paramedical, and administrative/logistic) in the process may vary. Conducting organizational change needs tools to decrease resistance.

A proprietary nanopowder (TC-325) has been proven to be effective in high pressure bleeding from external wounds. The efficacy and safety of TC-325 were assessed in a survival gastrointestinal bleeding animal model.

Proof-of-principle has been shown on brain samples from an experimental scrapie hamster model. The assay demonstrates very sensitive detection of PrPSc in animal brain tissue with potential application for early presymptomatic detection in animal screening.

Differential genomic blotting using a yeast artificial chromosome known to contain the PAR-1 and PAR-2 genes identified the PAR-3 gene within a PAR gene cluster spanning approximately 100 kilobases at 5q13. The PAR-3 gene is relatively small (approximately 12 kilobases); and, like the PAR-1 and PAR-2 genes, it displays a two-exon structure, with the majority of the coding sequence and the proteolytic cleavage site contained within the larger second exon.

We previously observed that the fibrinogen concentration used to coat polystyrene wells affected the morphology and distribution of GP IIb/IIIa receptors on the surface of platelets adherent to the fibrinogen. One possible explanation for these differences is that fibrinogen immobilized at high density adopts a different conformation than fibrinogen immobilized at low density.

Serum samples have been collected before treatment with fibrin and postoperatively between 1 and 9 days, 3 and 12 weeks, and 6 and 8 months. The titers of anti-bovine fibrinogen antibodies, measured by ELISA specific for immunoglobulins IgG or IgM, increased to maximal values after about 8 or 6 weeks, respectively.

The (DD)E complex is the major cross-linked fibrin degradation fragment. Structural components required for maintenance of the (DD)E complex were examined in order to better understand clot structure and the contribution of specific polypeptide chain segments in the process of polymerization. First, the (DD)E complex was reversibly dissociated by peptides derived from the alpha-chain NH2-terminus of fibrin having a minimal sequence of GPR (alpha 17-19).

Conversely, when the PCP vehicle was given prior to the saccharin-LiCl pairing and PCP prior to a nonpoisoned exposure to saccharin, other subjects avoided saccharin consumption following the vehicle injection and readily consumed saccharin after an injection of PCP. During dose substitution sessions, animals displayed greater drug-appropriate responding as the dose of PCP increased.
