Numerous colleges utilize distributed veterinary education (DVE) to deliver most or all their students' clinical education. This study explored students' experiences and development of competence in a DVE program. Veterinarians evaluated 120 final-year students' performances at the end of each 4-week clinical rotation using a four-point RIME (Reporter, Interpreter, Manager, Educator) scale.

Vaccines are the most effective and sustainable intervention to control ticks and tick-borne diseases (TBD). Using a personalized vaccine design based on regional tick genotypes, a Rhipicephalus appendiculatus Subolesin protective antigen was used in a field trial evaluating tick vaccine efficacy, effectiveness, and safety in cattle infested with multiple tick species in different Ugandan agro-ecological zones. To present a case of central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) leading to the diagnosis of eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (Churg-Strauss syndrome) within 1 week of an adenovirus vector COVID-19 vaccination. The mechanism(s) underlying obesity-related postmenopausal (PM) breast cancer (BC) are not clearly understood. We hypothesized that the increased local presence of 'obese' mammary adipocytes within the BC microenvironment promotes the acquisition of an invasive and angiogenic BC cell phenotype and accelerates tumor proliferation and progression. BC cells, treated with primary mammary adipocyte secretome from premenopausal (Pre-M) and PM obese women (ObAdCM; obese adipocyte conditioned-media) upregulated the expression of several pro-tumorigenic factors including VEGF, lipocalin-2 and IL-6.

Microwave promoted graft copolymerization of poly (ethyl acrylate) onto kappa-carrageenan in presence of a redox pair (ascorbic acid and potassium persulfate) led to the formation of a novel copolymer hydrogel, kappa-carrageenan-graft-poly (ethylacrylate). By varying the reaction conditions such as the microwave power, reaction time, concentration of kappa-carrageenan, ascorbic acid and persulfate, copolymers of highest percentage grafting was obtained and characterized by FT-IR, SEM, TGA and XRD. Bedaquiline Resistance after Effective Treatment of Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis, Namibia.

Bedaquiline is currently a key drug for treating multidrug-resistant or rifampin-resistant tuberculosis. We report and discuss the unusual development of resistance to bedaquiline in a teenager in Namibia, despite an optimal background regimen and adherence. The report highlights the risk for bedaquiline resistance development and the need for rapid drug-resistance testing.

This study aims to determine the prevalence of, and factors associated with, the "absence of psychiatric disorders" (APD) and "complete mental health" (CMH) among individuals with arthritis who report disabling chronic pain. There are three aspects of CMH: a) APD; b) happiness and/or life satisfaction in the past month on a daily or almost daily basis, and c) high levels of psychological and social well-being. A secondary analysis of a nationally representative sample (n = 620) of individuals with arthritis who report chronic and debilitating pain was conducted.

Knowledge of anatomy and planes is critical to maximize visualization, achieve anatomic reduction, and avoid iatrogenic injury to critical neurovascular structures. Understanding the history of these commonly used eponymous upper extremity approaches (Kaplan, Kocher, Boyd, Thompson, and Henry) provides a humanistic perspective of each of these surgeons' narratives, which shaped their description of anatomic approaches that have forever changed the course of hand and upper extremity surgeries, providing greater means and possibilities to treat our patients.

Background: The One Health approach is key in implementing International Health Regulations (IHR, 2005) and the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA). Introduction: Inflammation is a key pathogenic feature of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) is a pro-inflammatory enzyme that converts cytochrome P450-derived epoxides of fatty acids to the corresponding diols, and pharmacological inhibition of sEH prevented AAA formation. Both cytochrome P450 enzymes and sEH are highly expressed in the liver.

Alcohol use disorder among healthcare professional students: a structural equation model describing its effect on depression, anxiety, and risky sexual behavior.

Background: Mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and alcohol use disorders are among the leading causes of disability worldwide. Among university students, alcohol use and poor mental health are associated with risky sexual behavior. Given the syndemic occurrence of these disorders most especially in young adults, we describe the relationship between them so as to guide and intensify current interventions on reducing their burden in this population.
