Cranial CT studies of 32 patients with biopsy-proven AIDS-related primary CNS lymphoma were reviewed retrospectively. A wide variety of different CT appearances were identified. Mass lesions varied in location, size, and number.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTwo men, aged 59 and 36 years, had large, intracranial arteriovenous malformations. Both patients developed severe, bilateral visual loss secondary to unrecognized chronic papilledema. Lumbar puncture disclosed increased intracranial pressure.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA case of a 47-year-old man with weakness secondary to ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament is presented. During removal of the ossified ligament, the patient's dominant right vertebral artery was injured. Although the bleeding from this artery was controlled intraoperatively, the patient developed an expanding cervical hematoma on the 3rd postoperative day.

Magnetic Resonance (MR) Imaging of the brain in a child with carbon monoxide poisoning revealed bilateral diffuse high signal in the centrum semiovale and the previously unreported finding of bilateral high intensity lesions in the anterior thalami. This case illustrates a previously unrecognized effect of carbon monoxide poisoning and demonstrates the superiority of MR imaging over computed tomography in cases of carbon monoxide poisoning.

One of it is the porcelain laminate technique. Using composites, extremely thin, manually prepared porcelain laminates with a thickness of 0.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFComputed tomography has become a prime method of examination after trauma. We report a case of traumatic leukoencephalopathy detected with high-field strength, heavily T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging in a patient with minimal computed tomography findings.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFRenal failure and chronic haemodialysis are often associated with alterations in fluid status and plasma proteins. These changes, in turn, may result in pharmacokinetic alterations in affected patients. The purpose of this study was to investigate the pharmacokinetics of sufentanil in chronic renal failure patients undergoing kidney transplantation.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFEleven obese young women with idiopathic pseudotumor cerebri were studied with high-field-strength (1.5 T) MR imaging to demonstrate increased water content in the brains of such patients. Heavily T2-weighted studies were obtained for 10 patients, and balanced (long TRs, short TEs, spin density, proton density) pulse sequences were obtained for four patients.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFEEG recordings were carried out on 36 patients with the verified diagnosis of bruxism and unilateral headache. Occlusal splints were applied in the long-term management of these patients. Initial EEG recordings showed pathological changes in 56% of the patients.

Polygraphic recordings during two nights sleep in 7 selected outpatients prior to and following treatment of bruxism were carried out using EMG-, EEG and EOG-recordings to evaluate the activities of the masseter muscle and the different sleep stages. The results thus obtained were compared to those of an age-matched control group. Following treatment with occlusal splints the recordings were repeated eleven weeks later.
View Article and Find Full Text PDF10 outpatients with bruxism were investigated by polygraphic recordings during night sleep. Electromyogram, electrooculogram and electroencephalogram derivations were used to evaluate the activities of masseter muscle and the different stages of sleep. The results of the bruxist group were compared to those of an age-matched control group.

Opinions also differ on the precision of radioactive iodine for the measurement of functional ability in obstructed kidneys. We tried to assess the value of nuclear medical methods in comparison to the classical physiological clearance methods.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA case of so-called spontaneous epidural hematoma is presented. A new constellation of myelographic and CT myelographic signs are described that may assist in localizing a mass within the spinal epidural space.
