Drought stress has a significant impact on agricultural productivity, affecting key crops such as soybeans, the second most widely cultivated crop in the United States. Endophytic and rhizospheric microbial diversity analyses were conducted with soybean plants cultivated during the 2023 growing season amid extreme weather conditions of prolonged high temperatures and drought in Louisiana. Specifically, surviving and non-surviving soybean plants were collected from two plots of a Louisiana soybean field severely damaged by extreme heat and drought conditions in 2023.

This study aims to address the limitations of traditional methods for calculating linear energy transfer (LET), a critical component in assessing relative biological effectiveness (RBE). Currently, Monte Carlo (MC) simulation, the gold-standard for accuracy, is resource-intensive and slow for dose optimization, while the speedier analytical approximation has compromised accuracy. Our objective was to prototype a deep-learning-based model for calculating dose-averaged LET (LET) using patient anatomy and dose-to-water (D) data, facilitating real-time biological dose evaluation and LET optimization within proton treatment planning systems.

High-entropy oxides (HEOs) have aroused growing interest due to fundamental questions relating to their structure formation, phase stability, and the interplay between configurational disorder and physical and chemical properties. This study benchmarks publication rates for radiation oncologists from highly ranked National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers and reveals how productivity changes over the arc of a career and of the field over time.

Realizing the potential of user-developed automation software interacting with a treatment planning system (TPS) requires rigorous testing to ensure patient safety and data integrity. We developed an automated test platform to allow comparison of the treatment planning database before and after the execution of a write-enabled script interacting with a commercial TPS (Eclipse, Varian Medical Systems, Palo Alto, CA) using the vendor-provided Eclipse Scripting Application Programming Interface (ESAPI). The C#-application known as Write-Enable Script Testing Engine (WESTE) serializes the treatment planning objects (Patient, Structure Set, PlanSetup) accessible through ESAPI, and then compares the serialization acquired before and after the execution of the script being tested, documenting identified differences to highlight the changes made to the treatment planning data.

A combination of inelastic neutron scattering (INS), far-IR magneto-spectroscopy (FIRMS), and Raman magneto-spectroscopy (RaMS) has been used to comprehensively probe magnetic excitations in Co(AsPh)I (), a reported single-molecule magnet (SMM). With applied field, the magnetic zero-field splitting (ZFS) peak (2') shifts to higher energies in each spectroscopy. INS placed the ZFS peak at 54 cm, as revealed by both variable-temperature (VT) and variable-magnetic-field data, giving results that agree well with those from both far-IR and Raman studies.

Heterocycle-derived aldehydes are challenging substrates in metal-catalysed hydroacylation chemistry. We show that by using azine N-oxide substituted aldehydes, good reactivity can be achieved, and that they are highly effective substrates for the intermolecular hydroacylation of alkynes. Employing a Rh(i)-catalyst, we achieve a mild and scalable aldehyde C-H activation, that permits the coupling with unactivated terminal alkynes, in good yields and with high regioselectivities (up to >20 : 1 l:b).

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide guidance in developing and implementing a process for the accurate delivery of free breathing respiratory amplitude-gated treatments.

Methods: A phase-based 4DCT scan is acquired at time of simulation and motion is evaluated to determine the exhale phases that minimize respiratory motion to an acceptable level. A phase subset average CT is then generated for treatment planning and a tracking structure is contoured to indicate the location of the target or a suitable surrogate over the planning phases.

The clinical practice of contacting law enforcement to perform safety welfare checks for persons who have missed psychiatry appointments is commonly regarded as benign.
